Geralt left Heatherton with two leads to help with his search for Ciri in Velen. The first is that she met the local warlord, known as the Bloody Baron. The second is the fact that she had quarreled with a witch, likely near the town of Midcopse.

Hunting A Witch is one of the many quests that focus on an investigation in The Witcher 3. All Geralt knows is that the witch in question is close to a town. There is more than one way to find out exactly where she is, which makes this quest easy enough to resolve.

Searching Midcopse For The Witch

The quest starts at the end of The Nilfgaardian Connection after Geralt learns what he can from Hendrik's notes. Geralt will need to travel to the town of Midcopse, to the southwest of Crow's Perch. A witch that Ciri had quarreled with should be nearby.

As is so common in the game, the locals are mistrustful of outsiders and will not tell Geralt anything without some guile and social skills from Geralt. There are three main ways to learn where the witch is.

Talk to the lady sweeping up by her house.

Geralt can listen to this woman talk about the witch's past by standing nearby. Talk to her to learn that her husband had recently visited. You will receive a quest maker sending you right to him. You will need to bribe him with 50 orens or use Axii with at least one point in Delusion to learn where the witch is.

Eavesdrop on the housewives to the west.

Two women are gossiping about the witch in their garden at the westernmost house of Midcopse. They will mention where the witch is during their conversation. Make sure to keep your distance when doing so; they will stop talking when Geralt gets too close.

Talk to the smoking man at the western entrance to Midcopse.

A cheerful old man smoking his pipe at the western entrance to Midcopse will simply tell Geralt where the witch is without any fuss.

The quest will update once Geralt hears where the witch lives, giving you a quest marker right to the witch's home.

Where The Witch Is Located

The witch's hut is northeast of Midcopse, just a short distance away. Ride through the east path out of town and turn north up the narrow road. Follow it until you reach a small crowd gathering outside the hut.

It's clear that Geralt and the witch know each other the moment they see each other. She shoos the crowd away after offering a magical cure suitable for the peasant's imagination mixed in with sensible advice.

The witch in question is Keira Metz, a former member of the Lodge of Sorceresses. Both Yennefer and Triss had been members of the powerful and controversial group.

You will need to follow her into the hut where she is nowhere to be seen. Look for a skull on the left side of her house to open a portal to her actual location, a pocket dimension with rabbits, plants, and a magical bath.

Geralt will give her a less-than-respectful look as they talk about why he has come. These conversation choices do not have any lasting consequences. The quest ends immediately after, starting the next quest, Wandering In The Dark.
