As first spotted on Reddit's r/GamingLeaksAndRumours sub, a remaster of Tales of Xillia has seemingly been leaked. Information about a potential remaster comes from three separate listings at a European retailer. In those listings, Tales of Xillia Remastered is showcased along with box art. The box art bears a striking resemblance to that of Tales of Symphonia Remastered.

Adding to the speculation is the fact that the EAN Code on the product pages is directly registered to Bandai Namco Europe. The address on file for the registration is the same one that Bloomberg has on its website, adding further credence that these remasters could be real. And if they are real, then it looks like they'll be on all platforms, just like the Symphonia remaster.

Wait, But What About Tales of Xillia 2?

Longtime Tales fans will recognize that the potential remaster is just for the first game. After initially launching on the PS3 in 2011, a sequel was released in 2012. To date, those two titles have been locked on the PS3, so a modern re-release would be an excellent way for fans to experience things.

That said, the second game is missing from any listings. There could be two reasons for this. First, Bandai Namco could be gearing up for a two-part release instead of a single collection. However, it's also possible that there are no plans at all for the second game to be re-released.

When it released, Tales of Xillia 2 received a much lower reception from critics compared to its predecessor. Indeed, Xillia 2 has a 71 on Metacritic compared to the original Xillia's 78. More so, Xillia 2 was seen in some ways as a failure commercially. Reporting by IGN in 2013 indicated that Xillia 2 fell short of sales expectations, having sold 500,000 copies, which was under the 650,000 target.

In other words, Bandai Namco may not want to risk another failure, or it has no love for the sequel. Regardless of what happens, should these remasters come out, it'll be a great sight for longtime and first-time fans. Now if we could just get a re-release of Tales of the Abyss.
