7 Super Sentai Series That Haven't Been Adapted To Power Rangers

The Power Rangers are still quite popular, even if they’ve been on the air for so many years. Part of that popularity is their continuity, something that is likely about to get rebooted in the next season, something more than expected with around 30 seasons of the show.

There are a lot more than just the mighty morphin' crew.
Posts 3But the real magic is the imaginative giant robots and colorful monsters, and as a lot of people know by now, those things come from the Super Sentai series in Japan. Even with all those seasons, the Power Rangers didn’t adapt all the Sentai series, so we are left to wonder if they’ll ever pick these up.
7 Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger
A Bit Too Referential
CloseThe Rangers of Zenkaiger are almost in a sort of paradoxical state between being the most original designs, and the most derivative. This is because, while the main team stands out among all the Sentai teams (especially the ones used for Power Rangers), many of the themes and Megazords are direct references to older Sentai series, losing a lot of their own identity.
Still, the main strength of the team is how different they look from anything before them. The leader is wearing a more common-looking suit (the cape is a nice touch), but all the other members are heavily armored, yet they maintain their mobility and expressiveness even when wearing bigger suits.
6 Ressha Sentai ToQger
Hope You Like Trains!
CloseWe’ve seen the Power Rangers take on mechanical themes several times, and while having their Zords be cars isn’t as interesting as animalistic creatures (and it also borders on Transformers territory), it has proven it can work. Well, Ressha Sentai ToQger tried the same thing but with trains… with mixed results.
There are two things that make this Sentai series stand out from its competition, one of them being a certain twist in the story that we won’t spoil. The other is the villain's design, which is just oozing with Victorian-era evilness; the bad guys alone make this series worth the watch.
5 Avataro Sentai Donbrothers
You Need To Read Up On Your Momotaro Lore
CloseAvataro Sentai Donbrothers is deeply rooted in Japanese culture, since the main heroes are based off of the legend of Momotaro and his animal friends, something that often happens in Japanese media. That fact alone will alienate a lot of viewers, since many references will go over people’s heads, like the Yellow Ranger being antagonistic towards the team at first.

The fluid animation combined with compelling stories make these some of the best anime you should be watching for a visual feast.
Posts 18While the main team consists of the classic five members, you’ll mostly see only three on screen, since two of them have civilian forms that they rarely use. They are instead animated, which makes the action a little hard to watch but still works as a welcome novelty.
4 Mashin Sentai Kiramager
Back To Basics
CloseIf the Power Rangers continue with their current formula, no matter if they reboot the continuity or not, they will eventually use footage from Mashin Sentai Kiramager. It is as classic as a Sentai show can get without compromising its quality and presentation.
The best part of the show is the villain and the many faces it has. That is both a personality trait and a transformation gimmick that the bad guy uses throughout the show, having not only a monster appearance but a human persona as well; that part might be a little harder to pool off for Power Rangers, hence why this series hasn't been touched yet.
3 Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger
Minecraft, Anyone?
CloseThe esthetics of Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger are twofold, something you might not notice by looking at the Ranger team alone. The most prominent theme in the outfits of the heroes is the animals, with simplistic costumes that are still effective in conveying the animal each member represents.

The scale of these enormous Minecraft builds is unbelievable.
Posts 1The other theme, and something that would be very popular in the West, is the cube aesthetic of the Zords and the realm they hail from. They look like something pulled straight out of Minecraft, and with the immense popularity of that game, a lot of people would enjoy the prowess of these cubic-like robots.
2 Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger
Two Teams, Same Number Of Rangers
CloseWhen you’ve been doing something for so many decades, you’ll look towards anything to spice things up. And this show really changes the status quo, as we have two teams of Rangers, one acting as thieves (the Lupinrangers) and the other as police officers (the Patrarangers).
It is unlikely that this show will ever be adapted, since the logistics of two teams fighting each other might not be something that the Power Rangers would want to explore. Still, the concept is novel enough to warrant a watch, even if the Zords leave a lot to be desired.
1 Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger
Green Screen Goodness
CloseIt is hard to imagine a Power Rangers season based on Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, not because it is impossible (if they can get the green-screened backgrounds, the transition would be seamless), but because the original Sentai team has so much personality. It isn’t who they are with a mask on, but who they are without it.
Really, if you want to see a good Power Ranger-styled show, King-Ohger is probably your best bet outside the main canon. Sure, they are still trying to sell you toys, but the plot is involved enough to be enjoyed beyond that fact.
