You'll find some exciting mechanics and hard-to-find collectibles, so having the right tips in mind will help you navigate the world in Super Kiwi 64. That way, you can minimize the potential frustrations while focusing on having fun and spending time with the adorable protagonist of this story.

Understand Your Moveset

You have a solid moveset in Super Kiwi 64, including jumping, performing a drill attack, and sprinting. However, you can also glide in this game by pressing the hop button a second time. You can also drill into the wall to hang off it and jump. If you keep stabbing into the wall and timing your leaps, you can make your way up most walls in the game.

You also have the glide ability to help you reach other areas, such as hard-to-reach gems. If you want to get the best height possible, you should hold the jump button. Doing so will cause you to start gliding at the top of your jump, so you'll get the max distance possible.

Ensure your drill attack enters a wall when you use it. You can't use the drill attack again if it doesn't hit something, so you'll fall back to the ground if you don't use the move properly.

Check The HUD As Soon As You Enter A Level

Every time you enter a level, you'll see the number of gems and gears in the top-left corner. While most levels will only have those collectibles, you'll sometimes come across ones with keys on display. If you want all the gems, you'll need to collect keys at some point, so keep an eye out for them.

The HUD even shows you the colors of the collectibles, so you'll know exactly what you should search for. For example, it'll show a blue or pink key based on the level. You can also use the HUD to keep track of your total gems and gears, so you'll know if you got them all in the level. Since the game constantly displays the HUD, you'll be reminded what to find.

For example, they're most likely grouped if you're missing three or so gears. You don't see many gears alone, so you'll know to look for some in a row rather than split up. The game also has a reasonable draw distance, so you may want to glide from a significant height and look around the area to find everything.

Try To 100 Percent A Level On Your First Visit

Speaking of collecting everything, you'll want to try to 100 percent the level during your first visit. Super Kiwi 64 doesn't require you to backtrack to previous levels, so you might as well get everything at once. Otherwise, you may need to re-visit levels if you don't collect 40 gems by the end of the game.

If you only care about winning and seeing the credits, you must collect an average of five gems per level. However, if you want to go to the secret area, you'll need every gem in the game. Each level has two consistent gems: collecting all the gears and going through the hoops. You'll find five hoops in each level with varying gears shown in the HUD. Luckily, both collectibles stand out since they're yellow, so you won't struggle while finding them around the green, black, and blue environments.

On top of that, the gears and hoops reset when you leave a level, so you'll have to collect all of them again if you don't get those on your first go. However, if you get all of them and miss another gem, you can ignore them and focus on the other missions to 100 percent of the game.

Search High, Low, And Behind Objects

To succeed in any 3D platformer focused on collecting items, you'll need to search the entire environment. Since you can glide and reach high heights with your climbing move, you'll need to look high and low to find everything. Some items might be near the ground while others float in the air, seemingly out of your reach.

Some items may even be behind other objects you come across, so you'll want to get on top of items and use the camera to check all around them. Most items are on a path, though, so as long as you scout an entire area before moving to another level section, you shouldn't have too much trouble. You can simplify it by climbing the largest object immediately and making your way around it until you collect everything.

Interact With Everything

If you see something strange in the game, you should try to interact with it. You'll encounter switches, targets, and many others as you go through each level. If you ever press a switch, the game will show you what changed, so you'll know what to do next. Usually, they'll cause something in the environment to change, so you'll gain access to more gears or gems.

For the targets, you'll want to hit them as soon as you see them. Some make changes while others make gems appear, so you'll want to go through the entire area to find out what you must use. Some of them may cause damage to Kiwi, but you have four health points, so you won't need to worry if you end up taking damage. Generally speaking, you'll most likely attack any object you come across, so always start with a hit to interact with it or potentially attack an enemy.

Pay Attention During Camera Cuts

The camera will cut to a location whenever you interact with something essential or collect everything. It'll show you what it changed or the gem that appeared, which will happen every time you find all the gears and hoops. Ensure you don't look away during these camera cuts. Even though the levels aren't the biggest, you may miss the location and struggle to find it if you don't watch during these cuts.

On top of that, you want to head straight to the item, even if you're doing something else. You can easily get distracted by the other collectibles in this game, so you may forget where to go to collect the gem. That means you'll either have to scour the level and hope you find it or restart and redo the task to get it. Instead, grab it and return to where you were before to keep track of everything with minimal problems.

You can take a screenshot during the cutscenes if you want to continue collecting before you go to the gem that appeared. That way, you can complete other tasks, and if you struggle to find the gem, you can pull up the screenshot and double-check it.

As you go through Super Kiwi 64, you'll want to pay attention and explore every inch of the world. Doing so will help you collect all the gems in the game and see everything the game offers. You'll need to utilize the entire moveset and see what you'll come across to help you collect everything in each level and 100 percent the game.
