Mario Wonder's Talking Flowers Are Now Plushes And Yes, They Talk To You

Summary
- The Talking Flowers from Super Mario Bros. Wonder have been turned into a talking plush.
- The plush will have 18 built-in phrases in English and Japanese and be released in Japan this November.
- A Wonder Flower plush that doesn't talk will also be released.
It's always nerve-wracking when a long-time series tries to take things in a new direction, for both fans and developers. However, if any studio in the world has earned good faith with its fans in that arena, it's Nintendo. That's why from the second Super Mario Bros. Wonder was revealed, we knew it was going to hit. There was one thing a lot of people were hung up on, though - the talking flowers. It felt like the chatty new characters might get annoying fast, but they didn't. In fact, they've proven so popular during Wonder's first year that they're getting their own plushes.
Japanese toy company San-ei Boeki, which has been working with Nintendo on official plushes for years, revealed this week that both the Talking Flower and the Wonder Flower will be getting plushes this November, so almost exactly one year on from Wonder's launch. While the Wonder Flower is just a plush with no additional features, the Talking Flower will speak when you squeeze it and has 18 catchphrases in Japanese and English (thanks, Comicbook.com).

The push to become the best-selling console ever will be kicked up a notch heading into the holiday season.
PostsExactly what those phrases will be hasn't been revealed, but there are a lot to choose from. I'm guessing "onward and upward", "roll, roll, roll", and "hang in there" will be among them, though. "I wonder what Goombas taste like" and "You're covered in goo" probably won't make the cut, but you never know. Both plushes have only been announced for release in Japan so far, but since the 18 phrases will be in English as well as Japanese, it seems likely they'll be coming to the US eventually.
Mario Wonder's Talking Flower Is Getting A Talking Plush
"Hey, Someone To Talk To!"
via San-ei BoekiThere will be ways to get your hands on the plushes despite them only being sold in Japan, of course, it'll just cost you more than you'd normally spend for a plush thanks to shipping costs. Nintendo knew it had a hit on its hands with Wonder as a plush version of Elephant Mario, also created by San-ei Boeki, was revealed before the game had even launched. The gap between its reveal and a release in the US was seven months so settle in, we might be waiting a while for our talking flowers.
Even though Nintendo is set to announce a successor to the Switch anytime from now until the end of the fiscal year, the hits for the console keep on coming. The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom arrives on September 26, Super Mario Party Jamboree is its big game in October, and then Mario & Luigi: Brothership will bring the curtain down on the Switch's 2024. Here's hoping whatever 2D Mario game Nintendo has planned for its next console is as good as Wonder, and that the talking flowers make a return.
