Not every crop in Stardew Valley can be bought from Pierre's General Store, and there are a few seed types you can only find through non-traditional means. Some special crops like Sweet Gem Berries, Ancient Fruit, Summer Squash, Carrots, Powder Melon, and Broccoli can only be obtained as quest rewards, from special merchants, or by digging up Artifact Spots.

If you're looking to get and grow Broccoli to complete your collection tab or fulfill a request, there are a few ways you can obtain this super green. Here is how to find and cultivate Broccoli on your Stardew Valley farm.

What Are Broccoli Seeds?

Broccoli seeds are non-purchaseable secret crop seeds that you can find around Stardew Valley. Broccoli seeds, unlike other seed types, don't come in a small rectangular seed packet, but in a large burlap bag that you can find in the ground.

When full-grown, a Broccoli plant will continue to produceBroccoli every four days.

You can also use Broccoli as a gift for NPCs or in a Sewing Machine to create the Button Down Shirt.

Where To Find Broccoli Seeds

As previously stated, you won't find Broccoli in Pierre's General Store or any other Stardew Valley merchant's inventory.

All villagers dislike receiving Broccoli Seeds as a gift, but all villagers except for Abigail, Hailey, Jas, Sam, and Vincentlike receiving full-grown Broccoli as a gift.

The most reliable way to obtain Broccoli Seeds is by excavating Seed Spots in Stardew Valley, the Calico Desert, and Ginger Island. Seed spots look similar to Artifact Spots but have longer green, grass-like strands that wave in the wind.

Excavating Seed Spots during different times of the year will reward you with different crop types. Every season has a corresponding Seed Spot crop.

Seeds Spots excavated during late summer to mid fall (Between Summer 21 and Fall 20) are guaranteed to give you Broccoli Seeds. This makes excavating Seed Spots during Broccoli's seasonal window the most efficient way to collect Broccoli Seeds.

The only other reliable way to obtain Broccoli Seeds is by trading with the Raccoon's Wife at her shop.

You can trade the Raccoon's Wife five pieces of Moss for one Broccoli Seed. However, you won't unlock the Raccoon's Wife's shop until later in the game, so your best bet for finding Broccoli Seeds is digging up Seed Spots.

You can find Moss on trees in every season except winter. Hitting the tree once with an Axe, Sword, or Scythe will harvest the Moss without destroying the tree.

After growing a Broccoli plant, you can place a piece of Broccoli into the Seed Maker to get more Broccoli Seeds to plant.

You can also find Broccoli Seeds by breaking chests and crates in the Skull Caverns and catching Golden Fishing Treasure Chests. Both of these methods can only be accessed late in the game. To get Golden Fishing Treasure Chests, you must have unlocked the Mastery Cave and completed Fishing Mastery.

If you are searching for Broccoli Seeds in Golden Fishing Treasure Chests or by destroying crates in the Skull Cavern, you will only find the seeds during their in-season window. You won't find Broccoli Seeds this way unless you are searching between Summer 21 and Fall 20.

The final way you can earn Broccoli Seeds is by exchanging Prize Tickets for prizes in the Mayor's Prize Machine.

How To Plant Broccoli

Broccoli is planted like any other regular crop on your farm. To plant Broccoli, select a tile of tilled ground and interact with it with the Broccoli Seed activated in your hot bar.

Broccoli can only be planted during the fall, and it will take eight days to mature. Once your Broccoli plant is mature, it will continue to produce Broccoli every four days.

Since Broccoli continues to be produced after it is fully grown, it is a great crop to plant in the Greenhouse.

Despite being able to find Broccoli Seeds during late summer, you cannot plant Broccoli until Fall 1.
