Pokemon TCG: 8 Best Battle Partners Art Rares, Ranked

The release of Battle Partners marked a major moment in modern Pokemon TCG history, with the return of Trainer's Pokemon, which feature iconic Pokemon and trainer pairings on a single card. This style was popularized in the early days of the Pokemon TCG, with some of the most valuable cards in Gym Heroes standing out as some of the best.

PostsPokemon and trainer combinations have appeared numerous times across the generations since their introduction over 25 years ago, with Battle Partners continuing the beloved tradition. While card prices typically reflect the most coveted cards, these Battle Partners beauties also offer incredible visual appeal.
8 Furret – 110/100
Less Is More
This is a monumental moment for Furret, as this Pokemon is often disregarded in the main series games as yet another early route fodder Pokemon. Despite a lack of powerful abilities or distinguishing characteristics, this Furret card manages to leverage a lack of flair to its advantage.
The straight-on portrait view of Furret manages to capture this Pokemon's most important characteristics while portraying a simple moment in such vivid detail. Even those with no attachment to Furret can appreciate the cuteness on display.
7 Lycanroc – 107/100
Looking Ahead
Lycanroc leaps ahead of Furret thanks to the gorgeous level of detail in this scene, with perfect contrasts between Lycanroc's brown and white coat and the blue, yellow, and red background. Lycanroc's stare is focused on the unseen, expansive world before it.
Lycanroc is another underappreciated Pokemon when it comes to finding a strong roster of cards, but if this artwork is any indication of what we might see in the future, then there's plenty to look forward to for Lycanroc.
6 Lillie’s Ribombee – 105/100
The Perfect Pair
While her Ribombee might not be Lillie's most expensive card, it deserves mention as one of the most beautiful, given the incredible use of lighting in the scene. Both subjects share a delicate slice-of-life moment that you rarely see depicted elsewhere, giving this a unique appeal.

PostsLillie has become one of Pokemon's most beloved trainers since her introduction, so it's no surprise that she continues to receive cards with stunning artwork, including via the Special Art Rares from this set.
5 N’s Reshiram – 109/100
A Regal Duo
Much like Lillie, N's popularity catapults him to the top of the list of frequent appearances in Battle Partners, adding to N's growing roster of valuable cards. While this card is the least impressive in terms of value, there's no denying that this card makes excellent use of white as a base to build on with a beautiful rainbow of colors.
While N is incredibly small and difficult to see from a distance, the closer you get, the more you can appreciate the combination of stunning details, perfect color choice, and beautiful lighting that combine to work so well in this scene.
4 Iono’s Kilowattrel – 104/100
The Perfect Contrast
Iono's Kilowattrel boasts arguably the most distinct art style of any of Battle Partners' best Art Rares, and Iono seems to know it, as she's casually chowing down. You can almost hear the 'teehee' leaving Iono's mouth between bites as she sits wrapped in Kilowattrel's wing, seemingly aware that the bird is protecting her.
While the style might not appeal to you, there's no doubt that this card sticks out from the rest and maintains the excellent standards set by the previous card's beautiful color palettes.
3 Wailord – 103/100
A Surprise Beneath The Surface
From the moment this card was revealed, Wailord stuck out as one of the best Art Rares in Battle Partners thanks to the beautiful undersea scene and hilarious positioning of our subject. Even if you're not a Wailord fan, you can appreciate this card's appeal given the gorgeously depicted coral seen here.

PostsFurthermore, as if the beautiful aquatic details weren't enough, Wailord's casual preparation to eat any unsuspecting victims foolish enough to come near it makes this scene even better. Between the suspense and humor in this moment, it's hard not to wonder what might happen next.
2 Articuno – 102/100
Bright Blue Beauty
Articuno is one of the best Battle Partners Art Rares and stands out in the English Journey Together set as one of the most eye-catching cards. Articuno spreads its wings and flies across a cold, icy sky that provides the perfect backdrop for this stunning scene.
While the major theme thus far has been the excellent use of contrast in this set, Articuno leans into the limited spectrum of icy blue and still pulls off one of the most distinct cards with an impressive value to support that claim of its widespread popularity.
1 N’s Zorua – 108/100
Cuteness Claims The Win
N's Zorua stands as the top Battle Partners Art Rare thanks to the perfect combination of exquisite color choices, bright lighting, and an adorable moment. Zorua enjoys some comforting chin scratching from N, as the pair enjoys a serene moment in a grassy forest.
The scene features an equal portion of both subjects and portrays each of their personalities through a simple shared moment. If you could only pick one Art Rare to perfectly define the best cards in Battle Partners, this card would be the perfect choice as it embodies the best of every card we've seen in this set.
