Path of Exile 2 just received a big shake-up in Version 0.3.0 - the acrobatics keystone has now been removed, and evasion has been tweaked.

According to today's patch notes, "Player Evasion now works on all hits except boss skills that have a red flash." This is essentially what the Acrobatics Keystone previously did.

Before its removal, Acrobatics allowed the player the potential to evade all hits, at the cost of losing 75 per cent of their evasion rate. Acrobatics differed from the evasion stat because it included every attack in the game except damage-over-time spells.

Previously, evasion did not include area-of-effect (AoE) attacks. So, even if you were a highly evasive character, your life could still be snuffed out by a high-powered area-of-effect attack if you failed to manually dodge it. This is where Acrobatics was useful, as it gave you a chance to evade damage even if you were caught in the splash zone of an AoE.

It now appears that evasion can dodge area-of-effect attacks even without Acrobatics, with the only undodgeable attack being red-flash boss skills. Naturally, this makes Acrobatics obsolete, hence its removal.

Dipping And Dodging

To balance this change, the evasion formula has been tweaked. The patch notes read, "The evasion formula has been adjusted to lower the percentage of hits that will be evaded by a given amount of evasion."

These changes also affect the Hyrri's Ire unique vest, which previously had a similar effect to Acrobatics if the player hadn't been hit recently. Now, the player's evasion rating is simply doubled if they haven't sustained a hit for a while.

The full scale of the consequences of these changes is unknown, but many players are expressing surprise at the removal of Acrobatics.

The rest of today's patch notes include changes to Thrilling Chase, Poisonous Concoction, Incinerate and Orb of Storms.
