PostsYou might have noticed the gray bar in your health that appears when you take damage from enemies or enter Umbral; it's known as Withered Health. This feature bears a resemblance to a mechanic found in Bloodborne, and this guide will give you the insights needed to make the most out of it.
How Does Withered Health Work
Once you enter the Umbral realm, you'll immediately notice a gray bar in your health meter. This is known as Withered Health, and it can be restored by dealing damage to enemies. The more hits you land on foes, the more health you can recover.
This approach helps conserve your Sanguinarix uses, relying on them only in critical situations.
However, be cautious; if you get hit by an enemy, you'll lose all your Withered Health, and there's no way to regain that lost health.
Therefore, it's wise not to rush headlong into battle when you have the gray bar. Instead, plan your approach strategically to reclaim your health.
Withered Health isn't limited to the Umbral Realm; it also appears when you block enemies' attacks. In this case, the process remains the same whether in Axiom or Umbral: to regain health, you need to deal damage to enemies.
Interestingly, Umbral enemies inflict Withered Health when they damage you, rather than depleting your HP conventionally. This gives you more opportunities to combat foes and maintain your health at its peak.
Furthermore, you can actually gain Withered Health through certain actions.
When you attempt to use your Umbral Lamp on enemies or Blisters, you acquire a small portion of Withered Health through a process known as Siphoning.
In order to perform Siphoning, simply hold your Umbral Lamp and direct it toward an enemy or the glowing blue orbs known as Blisters found in Umbral. Then, press and hold R1 or RB or the Left Mouse button, depending on your platform.
While Siphoning is mainly used for Soulflay Charge, it can also provide you with extra Withered Health when you're low on Sanguinarix uses and in need of a health boost.
