The island's steward, Matayoshi, is more than happy to lend you a hand on your journey to unlock each area of the island and expand your available resources.
What Are Your Dondoko Island Tools?
Kasuga will need more than just his hands to perform the daily tasks necessary to restore and maintain the natural beauty of Dondoko Island.
You have access to three tools that will help you perform every task that pops up on Dondoko Island:
- Baseball Bat
- Bug Net
- Spear (a.k.a Harpoon)
Kasuga's baseball bat is a multifaceted tool, helping him to clear out the trash littering the island and fend off the attacking Washbucklers, who seek to keep the island bogged down with garbage.
The net is reminiscent of a butterfly net and will be used to help catch bugs while on the island.
Bugs are specialties of the island and can be used to create souvenirs for your guests.
The harpoon will help Kasuga catch fish in the water and can be used at designated fishing spots near the jetties to the south and east.
How Do You Upgrade Your Bat, Harpoon, and Net?
Before you can upgrade your tools, you'll need to progress a few days on Dondoko Island, helping Matayoshi, Mukku, and Gachapin to sort out the basics.
Once that's done, Matayoshi will invite an old friend to the island – Kenzo.
Kenzo is the resident fixer of Dondoko Island, offering to expand Kasuga's house and upgrade his tools – for a cost.
Tool Upgrade Costs
Each tool begins at level one and can be upgraded to a maximum level of four.
To upgrade your bat, net, or spear from level one to two, you will have to pay 50,000 Dokobucks per upgrade.
The second upgrade – from tier two to three – will be more costly, to the tune of 150,000 Dokobucks each.
The third upgrade – from tier three to four – will require a hefty sum of 300,000 Dokobucks per tool.
You can earn Dokobucks by performing tasks from the suggestion box, inviting guests, and clearing areas – which will net you both resources and Dokobucks as you expand your operations.
The benefits of upgrading are quite noticeable, particularly once you reach the final tier.
Upgrading the bat will improve its handling and make it swing much faster.
Similarly, the bug net will swing much faster, and become far less infuriating to use.
Leveling up your harpoon causes the reticle to charge much faster when preparing to spear a fish.
The first upgrades should be purchased immediately, once you have amassed the necessary amount of Dokobucks.
This will allow you to more efficiently perform your daily tasks without becoming frustrated by the sluggish tools.
While the investment in each tool will be significant, the quality of life improvement you'll notice from each is incrediblysatisfying and makes your experience on the island far more enjoyable and efficient.
