How To Plant Crops
The first thing you need in order to start planting crops is a Garden Plot. To unlock the garden plot recipe, you must craft a Shovel for the first time.
Shovel Recipe
3x Any Wooden Rod
1x Plank
Once you've got a Shovel, dig up some dirt anywhere with it and you'll unlock the Garden Plot recipe. There are three different Garden Plots you can unlock, all you have to do is dig up the relevant soil for each one.
Garden Plot
Snow Garden Plot
Sand Garden Plot
- 2x Soil
- 1 x Fertilizer
- 2x Snow
- 1 x Fertilizer
- 2x Sand
- 1 x Fertilizer
Soil can be found by digging in the Grasslands or any grassy area.
Snow can be found by digging in the Frostlands.
Sand can be found by digging in the Dry Valley or the Shore.
Once you have your Garden Plots, you can select them to put seeds from your inventory inside to make them start growing. You can even place a stack of seeds into one plot. This will ensure a lengthy harvest where you won't have to refill the plot once the plant has completely grown and harvested.
How To Harvest Crops
You do not have to water your crops in order for them to grow. They will grow by themselves, but you can assign an NPC to harvest them.
When a villager harvests your crops, they won't actually take away from it, but cultivate additional produce.
Once your crops are fully grown, you'll be able to Harvest them. If you have additional seeds left in the stack for the Garden Plot, it'll automatically start growing the next.
How To Get Seeds
Once you have placed garden plots, you'll need seeds. You'll have probably come across some seeds inside of chests, but the most reliable way to acquire seeds is by crafting a Grain Mill.

20x Granite Slab

NPCs living in your village can be assigned to the task of crafting seeds with the Grain Mill.
