Alan Wake 2: Night Springs - Episode 3: Time Breaker Walkthrough

Alan Wake 2: Night Springs brings three episodes of unique content to the award-winning base game. While remaining a survival horror game at its roots, the Night Springs DLC offers stories that lean more into the genres of adventure and fantasy.

The three-hour long expansion contains multitudes.
PostsThe third and final episode of the DLC, Time Breaker, has some of the wackiest moments in the entire DLC. The whole episode is a reference to a previous game by the developers named Quantum Break, and is a wild ride to play through for the first time.
Night Springs: Time Breaker Walkthrough
Time Breaker begins with a longer cutscene than the previous two episodes, focusing on a game capture scene with fictionalized realizations of the actual developers of the game. Remedy is called Poison Pill Entertainment, while Shawn and Sam keep their names the same as their real life counterparts: Shawn Ashmore as the actor behind Time Breaker, and Sam Lake as the director of Remedy's games.
While the Alan Wake series is based on works of art becoming real, this episode focuses on that idea but links it instead to a multiverse-jumping hero played by Shawn. After talking to the director, go to your Green Room to read your lines, where you will find the dead body of Tim Breaker inside.
As Sam said to Shawn earlier, in multiverse theory, there are potentially infinite other versions of him all trying to complete the same goal. As it turns out, this actor version of the hero is now thrust into action, finding a PRS device, a revolver, and a Time Breaker Solidifer, which works just like a flashlight.
To progress through this episode, the key mechanic involves the PRS device, using it to move from world to world. Using the device along with an energy node and a television opens a portal to another location, with the first transfer forced by Mr. Door leading to just outside Cauldron Lake.
Time Breaker: Cauldron Lake Walkthrough
Appearing in the forest, the goal is to find an energy node and a TV to use to jump to another location and track down Mr. Door. First, travel up to the trailer, in the same location from Alan Wake 2 that Saga finds her first doll puzzle in.
Where the original area is very open, like other episodes in Night Springs, the map has been changed to be very linear. Entering the trailer will reveal one of Tim Breaker's signature whiteboards from the main game, alongside the television you need.
Alas, the television requires an energy node to proceed.
Going south from the trailer down to the riverbed reveals the energy core, but collecting it will summon the first true enemies of the episode.
Defeating these enemies is exactly the same as Taken from Alan Wake 2. Use the flashlight to break through the barrier before shooting them down with the revolver. The game also offers flashbang grenades later on, which do massive damage to foes in a small radius.
Go back to the trailer with the energy node in the PRS device and use it on the television to travel to the next zone: The Oceanview Hotel.
Time Breaker: The Oceanview Hotel Puzzle Walkthrough
Entering the Oceanview Hotel's bottom floor, the colour has been changed to pure Noir-style black and white. This location is the only true puzzle of the episode, as the hotel loops on itself, just like the main game.
The location focuses around a split hallway loop, divided by three different corridors. Each corridor is linked to a time, as the clocks above the hallways show noon, three past, six past, and nine past.
Walking through leads to the same lobby, with slight differences, including respawning enemies and recurring loot. The answer to this setup is to move through time via the hallways in a specific order.
That order is highlighted behind the counter: 12, 3, 9. Enter the hallways in that order to find the energy node, and after fighting some final enemies, use it on the television in the Entertainment Lobby at noon to exit the location.
Time Breaker: Ending Walkthrough
The final stretch of locations start to change the gameplay significantly, starting with a long comic-style cutscene followed by a 2D side-scroller fighting section.
The gameplay is super simple, as all the player can do is move left or right and attack the enemies that come by in waves.
After defeating all the enemies, an energy node will appear and allow you to progress to the final true physical location of the episode. This location is littered with used energy nodes and plenty of enemies along the way.
The path is still linear, as you need to find another node and TV to continue. Stretching between large masses of nodes and reaching the end, you will transfer to the ending location: the text-based adventure.
How To Solve The Text-Based Adventure
This text-based adventure offers lots of options for players to choose, but they all end at the same ending.
Enjoy the analog gameplay and world-building of Alan Wake 2 to eventually meet the Master of Many Worlds to end the episode and the DLC as a whole.
