Summary

  • Upgrade mid-fight to survive bosses.
  • Use every resource, including the tree's power.
  • Strategize quickly in challenging stages.

Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance TD doesn’t have a super long campaign, capping out at 16 stages. However, every stage is delightful in its own way, though some stand out above the rest. A good stage not only challenges the skills you’ve been building but forces you to strategize and think carefully about what the best move would be.

Chances are you won’t have much breathing room between each wave, so upgrading in the middle of fights is going to be the status quo. If you do it right, you may just survive some of the bosses that lay in wait for you.

9 Stage Three

Use The Tree’s Heart

This is one of the few stages where it benefits you to click on just about everything because that glowing green mass in the middle will attack your enemies when it’s ready. Even if you don’t find yourself getting overwhelmed during this early stage, take the time to use it anyway.

Every little bit of damage helps, especially given that you’re likely still figuring out the best tower setups. Plus, the chances that you have access to the best towers are low, so remember to use the heart of the tree!

8 Stage Five

The First Actual Challenge

If you thought the first few stages were easy, then stage five has another thing coming. Although it might look easy at first glance, there will come a point during the waves when the trees are chopped down, and the enemies are given a much shorter path to get through your defenses.

You need to think on your feet and be quick to boost your defenses along that shorter line, because they will take it, and they will take it often. This stage also features some fast-moving enemies, which puts your tower defense skills to the test.

7 Stage Six

Your First Boss

Although you may not be expecting it, once you reach the final wave on stage six, you will face your first miniboss. Plus, that middle section will fall out at some point, meaning that enemies can spring up from every direction.

You need to not only understand how your towers work at this point but have a good strategy with your heroes - this is the first real test of your skills and your strategy. Stage six effectively works to prove that Kingdom Rush is a great tower defense game that easily builds up your skills and your confidence.

6 Stage Seven

Helping Geralt Fight A Leshen

Stage seven can be really frustrating but fun, especially if you put your efforts toward flying enemies. It forces you to rework previous strategies and experiment with your towers so you can actually survive with some health left.

However, this is not the only appeal of stage seven, specifically because stage seven hides a fun secret. At some point, a Leshen will peak its head out from behind the trees.

If you click on it, you can force it out into the open, at which point “Gerhart” (very similar to Geralt, really) will dart out and slay the monster, saving the day! If you’re on PC, you also get a really fun achievement for it, which is delightful.

5 Stage Ten

A Challenging Setup

Stage ten’s stage is small but packed, which means that if you’re playing on mobile, you need to be really careful with your strategy and placement. Take your time and watch out for when the crystal mounds pop up and become enemies.

They can get through your defenses fairly quickly, so you need to make sure that your towers and heroes are well-prepared. This is probably one of the better stages to use your slow but powerful heroes on, as you won’t have them darting across these massive and open areas.

4 Stage Eleven

Rescuing The King

Stage 11 is both large and all too small, with your towers gathered closely together and an area where both paths will touch. Placing your strongest towers in the central area and leveling them up first is sure to win you the stage, whether your heroes are optimized or not.

Of course, having good heroes will only make everything all the easier. Even then, you should be careful that you have a good setup because, come the final stage, you will be facing off against the corrupted king as a final area boss.

3 Stage Thirteen

Figuring Out The Best Towers

Despite stage 13 looking as though there are a good amount of spots for some towers, they’re more spaced out than you might think. Plus, this stage features an abundance of flying and fast-moving enemies, meaning you might find yourself low on health sooner rather than later.

This is one of the stages in which you will not only need fast-moving heroes, but you’ll likely need to experiment with your chosen towers. You may even find yourself abandoning your most reliable ones because they no longer hold up under the pressure of the enemies, even when fully upgraded.

2 Stage Fourteen

An Optional Boss

Stage 14 features an optional boss - the Flesh Behemoth. Occasionally, your enemies will try to hurl themselves into that bubbling pink pit. If you don’t defeat them fast enough, you may find yourself with a dangerous boss on your hands.

This stage puts not only your strategizing to the test but also your ability to think quickly and prioritize the best towers for pre-emptive measures. Simply allowing things to happen and then opting to react to them will end badly for you, and you may end up fighting a boss that your setup just can’t handle under the pressure.

It’s fun, it’s challenging, and it’s a good test for whether or not you’re going to be ready for the final boss.

1 Stage Sixteen

The Ultimate Challenge

Patience is not an option when you’re in the final stage. With this one, you need to put your strategy skills to the test by picking out the best towers and the strongest heroes. Speed is key when you’re in this final stage because there’s one round, but the longer you take in that round, the more damage the final boss is going to do.

It can spawn enemies, swap your towers around, and even destroy them if you take too long. Your heroes will have to do most of the enemy fighting while you dedicate every resource you can to boosting your boss-attacking towers.
