As of yesterday, Sinners had grossed $70 million worldwide, which already propels it into the highest grossing horror movies of all time. It will soon surpass its reported $90 million budget and keep rising, with $100 million and beyond easily in its sights. It has already beaten some of the most iconic horror movies ever, and will take down plenty more by the time its run ends.

Sinners Is One Of The Best Horror Movies Ever

It has already made more than Crimson Peak, The Pope's Exorcist, and House of Wax. Candyman, Cabin in the Woods, and all three Terrifer movies have also been left in Sinners' wake. Next in its sights are the likes of Hereditary, Sinister, Talk to Me, and Scream 4, all of which it will climb above once it breaks $100 million.

Even there, every chance remains that Sinners will continue to ascend up the charts. As of right now, Sinners sits at 152 in the all-time horror list, with $113 million needed to enter the top 100. To get there, it will need to outgross Saw, Insidious, Final Destination, and the 2003 version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. When it enters the top 100, it wiill be looking to take on movies like The Omen ($119m), Longlegs ($125m), and Halloween Kills ($130m).

Nope, often held up as the ideal double feature for Sinners, is 50th on the list with $172m

Alongside Longlegs, there are four other 2024 movies in the top 100, though Sinners will struggle to catch them all. Smile 2 on $138m could be attainable, and Nosferatu's $180m would be a mammoth success. A Quiet Place: Day One at $261m and Alien: Romulus at $351m might be beyond it as franchise flicks. Alien: Romulus is sixth overall, with 2017's It way out in front on $701m. Jaws remains in second place on a hugely impressive $484,351,938, which adjusted for inflation would be $2.9 billion.

In other horror news, we're also going to see Star Wars explore the genre in depth for the first time soon in a new project. Andor creator Tony Gilroy had previously said his series could pave the way for Star Wars to do new things, and recently commented "They’re doing that. I think they’re doing that. I think that’s in the works, yeah," when asked about it. Not a full confirmation, but with Sinners continuing to prove audiences show up for horror, we might see it very soon.
