Mickey Mouse has revealed that his favourite video game series is Kingdom Hearts, which probably doesn't come as a surprise considering he stars as a King in most of them.

Despite how closely linked Kingdom Hearts is to Disney and how beloved it is by fans, it's surprisingly rare to see Disney acknowledge the series unless a new game is about to launch. Although we might not have seen anything of Sora's next adventure (or even get confirmation that he'll be coming to Fortnite at some point), Kingdom Hearts fans did at least get a little love from none other than Mickey Mouse himself. D23 attendees had the chance to chat with Mickey using an AR mirror, which led to the loveable mouse making a surprising reference to the series.

As pointed out by Twitter user thegamersjoint, IGN recently had the chance to chat with a virtual version of Mickey Mouse (which seemed to be voiced and mo-capped by Mickey's current voice actor, Bret Iwan) while at D23. During the interview, IGN asks Mickey what his favourite video game is, which leads to him surprisingly calling out Kingdom Hearts.

It's always hard to choose my favourite, I gotta tell ya. But I'm having a lot of fun in Kingdom Hearts. We wish you were all here with us, but maybe we'll see you real soon. And remember... may your heart be your guiding key. - Mickey Mouse

Not only did Mickey Mouse bring up Kingdom Hearts when asked about his favourite game, but he also said that he wished "you were all" here with him, which could be a cheeky reference to Sora and the gang. Mickey then hopes that he'll see them "real soon", which is basically what every Kingdom Hearts fan has been wanting for the past few months.

The virtual version of Mickey even ended the interview by referencing Yen Sid's saying, "May your heart be your guiding key". It's a very cute moment for fans of the series and, while it doesn't come from Disney or Square Enix, it does at least show that Mickey's voice actor is thinking about the series.
