While some swords can be crafted using the blacksmithing mechanic to increase their stats beyond what they are otherwise capable of, others are unique and obtained during certain story moments or as quest rewards. No matter how you choose to build your Henry, there are a handful of swords that are considered the best in the KCD2.

8 Reforged Radzig Kobyla's Sword

Longsword

The strongest longsword in the game and one of the most difficult to produce, the Reforged Radzig Kobyla's Sword is only attainable under certain conditions. You get the base sword about halfway through the game before moving to the Kuttenberg region and after defeating Istv an Toth.

You automatically get the Reforged Radzig Kobyla's Sword sketch after attaining the base version.

This version of the sword is also fairly strong but gets much, much stronger after using it as an ingredient when forging the upgraded version. Before doing so, make sure you have the Martin's Secret Craftsmanship perk to get the best possible sword quality when forging, and make sure you save before you attempt it as you can't remake it if you get a low quality.

7 Menhart's Longsword

Longsword

The second most powerful longsword, Menhart's Longsword, belongs to the german sword master of the same name, who you can help retain his rightful place in the swordmaster's guild in Kuttenberg. You receive it as a git at the end of the guild questline if you choose to help Menhart and win the tournament.

However, this sword cannot be reforged, and will retain its level two quality, meaning you cannot improve it without help from the Razor-Sharp perk. This is useful for when you aren't keen on leveling up your Craftsmanship skill, or are waiting until you can receive the Martin's Secret perk.

6 Duelling Longsword

Longsword

The next on the list of longswords is the Duelling Longsword, which is a more common item compared to the unique quest rewards. The Duelling longsword can be bought in Kuttenberg by any of the weaponsmiths, or found on random, high-level bandits you encounter on the road, or even bought as a sketch.

This is another weapon you can maintain and even forge yourself to a higher quality than any other common longsword in the game, making it even stronger than Menhart's Longsword if you get to forge one yourself of quality three or higher. However, if you can craft quality four swords, it's best to just make the reforged Radzig sword.

With the Arm of Beowulf perk, you can wield a longsword with a torch or shield at the cost of attack speed and weapon damage.

5 Basilard

Shortsword

Depending on your perk combinations and whether you prefer using a shield, sometimes you want to replace your longsword with a shortsword. Since there are no unique shortswords, the best option is to obtain a sketch and forge one with a fourth tier quality using the Martin's Secret perk.

The Basilard is the strongest shortsword you can find, focusing on a high slash score and requiring 13 Strength and Agility to wield effectively. You can even obtain this as early as Trosky by purchasing it from the blacksmith Radovan, who you can side with to help get you into the Suchdol wedding.

4 Emmeram's Hunting Sword

Hunting Sword

Hunting swords are usually weaker than longswords and shortswords, but can be wielded with a shield, buffed with the Cleaver perk, and require smaller stats to wield effectively. You can obtain Emmeram's unique hunting sword, which has some of the highest base hunting sword stats in the game.

You obtain it by siding with Emmeram during Menhart's quest to get reinstated as guildmaster, but doing so looses you access to Menhart's Longsword and his unique sword skill. However, you cannot reforge or craft this hunting sword, making it potentially weaker than one you can craft yourself.

3 Noble's Hunting Sword

Hunting Sword

Of all the hunting swords that you can obtain sketches for, the Noble's Hunting Sword has the highest base stats, which can be made into the best hunting sword in the game if you use Martin's Secret perk. You can buy the sketch from the blacksmith in the Devil's Den, or the sword itself in Grund.

Using the Martin's Secret, Razor-Sharp, Cleaver, and Back Alley Skirmisher perks, you can make hunting swords an equally viable weapon compared to the other types. Otherwise, it is probably just best to stick with shortswords or sabres if you still want a shield.

2 Ataman's Sabre

Sabre

Sabres are unique in that they're especially good at causing enemies to bleed, which means you only need to get a few good hits before an enemy drops dead on their own. This is useful against heavily armored opponents which would otherwise end up in a much longer duel.

If you want to craft the best possible sabre, you can obtain the sketch for the Ataman's Sabre at Sigismund's camp, which has the highest base sabre stats. You will want to make sure you have the Cutting Edge perk to make bleeding effects with sabres more effective.

1 Rikonari's Sabre

Sabre

This is a unique sabre with surprisingly strong stats that you can obtain fairly early on, requiring you to visit the nomad camp and speak to the Voivode about his missing daughter. Eventually, you will be tasked with crafting the cursed, Rikonari sabre, and offering it to the voivode.

After you craft it, you can hold on to the sabre for as long as you like, waiting to finish the quest until you replace it with the Ataman's sabre. You will want to make sure you can make at least a tier three quality sword, as you will only have one opportunity to craft the sword.
