However, you can give them a good clean from time to time. If that's what you need to do but aren't sure how to do it, fear not! This guide will cover everything you need to know about how to clean your AirPod case. Get your isopropyl alcohol ready. Let's get cleaning!

If you want to know how to clean your AirPods specifically, we have a guide for that too!

What You Should Know Before Cleaning The Case

Before cleaning your AirPod case, there are a few things to know so you don’t inadvertently damage it:

  • Your AirPods may be water-resistant, but your case is not.
  • Avoid letting moisture get into the charging ports.
  • Immersing, dipping, or soaking your case in a cleaning product is a no-no.
  • Don’t use abrasive materials or sharp objects to clean your case, as these can cause damage.

To simplify it, your AirPods case can be considered an electronic since it contains circuitry inside. You wouldn’t clean your laptop with water, would you?

What You Need To Clean An AirPods Case

Cleaning an AirPods case doesn’t require much. All you’ll need is the following:

  • A cotton swab or a soft-bristled brush
  • Alcohol wipes or 70% isopropyl alcohol
  • A towel
  • Non-metallic pin

Just to reiterate, you don’t want to use anything that can cause damage to the case. Alcohol wipes are fine because they won’t damage the surface of the device. However, products that contain hydrogen peroxide or bleach should be avoided.

How To Clean The AirPod Case

Now you’re ready to begin cleaning! To get your AirPod case looking great again, follow these simple steps:

  1. Lay down a towel or paper cloth and place the AirPod case in the center.
  2. Use the soft-bristled brush to slowly and softly remove any dirt buildup from the crevices.
  3. Take your cotton swab, dab it in the isopropyl alcohol, and begin rubbing the crevices where leftover gunk remains.
  4. Use the non-metallic pin to lightly dig around the charging port to remove dirt or lint.
  5. Take another cotton swab, one without alcohol, and remove any dirt or lint from the inside of the case near the charging connections.
  6. Use an alcohol wipe to wipe over most of the surface of the entire AirPod for a clean sheen.

If any discolored areas on the AirPod case just won’t come clean, they’re likely stained, and you’ll just have to accept your losses. Also, please don’t use the alcohol-dipped cotton swab in the charging port; this could cause irreversible damage.
