Hollow Knight: Silksong Gets A Choose Edition Option, But It's Just Advertising Other Games

One way or another, Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming. Every little thing that happens to its website or one of its store pages is dissected to within an inch of its life in the hope it will provide a clue as to when we'll get more concrete information about its release. However, a recent update to Silksong's Xbox Store page has just left Hollow Knight fans confused.

If you frequent the Silksong subreddit, then you'll know it has become a minefield. That's actually a little unfair on minefields. Minefields are mostly open spaces with the odd explosive surprise hidden here and there. The Silksong subreddit is pretty much the exact opposite. Almost every post is something called a Silkpost, false information framed as a joke to try and trick desperate Hollow Knight fans, with a real, tangible discovery rearing its head every now and again.

When I stumbled across just_someone999's post, I immediately assumed it was of the Silk variety. They claimed that Silksong's Xbox page now has a dropdown menu from which you can choose which edition of the game you want. Since I don't check Silksong's store pages every single day, I'll have to take their word for it that this is a new addition to the page.

Whether this option was added today, a week ago, or even last year doesn't really matter. I checked the Silksong page, and the choose edition dropdown menu is indeed there. However, when opening the menu, I'm not presented with different editions of Silksong to choose from, nor is there nothing there in preparation for Silksong's big reveal.

For some bizarre reason, visiting Silksong's Xbox page and perusing its editions leads me to a list of options to buy Battlefield 1 and its various editions. Or at least that was the option I was presented with at first. Between making this odd discovery and writing this article, my Silksong choose edition options have changed from Battlefield 1 to Madden NFL 26.

After checking the page myself, I went back to the Reddit post above and checked the comments. Turns out Hollow Knights fans the world over are being shown all sorts of different games in their respective dropdowns. Oblivion Remastered, Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and some are just being given links to where they can subscribe to Game Pass. At least in that instance they're being shown something on which they will eventually be able to play Silksong. Xbox promised it would be a day one Game Pass title "within 12 months" in 2023. I'm assuming that promise still stands, even if its deadline has long since passed.
