As its predecessor, Hollow Knight: Silksong can be a tough journey. Playing as Hornet, you'll explore lands like Moss Grotto, The Marrows, and Deep Docks, among many others. To survive in every new region you discover, you'll need to learn how to heal yourself from time to time.

There are a couple of ways of healing Hornet, and while the game explains them as you find them, you won't know every little detail about them until you do your homework. That's why we have created this short but sweet guide explaining everything you need to learn about healing in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

How To Heal

There are two ways in which you can restore Hornet's health in Silksong.

Use Bind

Below your health bar, represented by masks, there's a small gauge that charges itself every time you hit an enemy or a specific material, like a cobweb. This gauge is called Silk, and you can use it to use skills or heal yourself.

To use Silk to heal, the gauge needs to be complete. Then you have to use the Bind ability (available from the very beginning) by holding its button, and after charging for a couple of seconds, Hornet will restore three masks. The number doesn't change.

Every time the Silk bar is full and you can use Bind, you will hear a sound, and Hornet will illuminate itself for a brief moment.

Bind will be useful to heal yourself while you're in combat, but be careful with two details: you are vulnerable while you're binding, so be sure that you won't be hit by anything until it finishes; as already mentioned, Silk is also used for the skills that Hornet will learn as you make progress in Silksong.

This means that you need to consider when it's a good moment to empty the whole bar and heal, and when it's better to use a special attack that might finish the enemy.

Sit On A Bench

As you explore the different regions in Silksong, you'll find benches where you can rest. These work as checkpoints, since they will refill your health bar, and you'll respawn on the last bench you rested at if you die. You just need to press Up in your D-Pad when next to a bench.

Some benches require Rosaries to be activated permanently. Always carry at least 30 Rosaries in case you find a new one. Also, Shakra will offer you markers for your bench, which will automatically mark every bench on your available maps. It costs 60 Rosaries.
