The Rumors Are True: Hollow Knight: Silksong Will Cost Just $20

We are just four days away from the highly-anticipated release of Hollow Knight: Silksong on September 4. As if the hype wasn't already massive, rumors of the game costing just $20 began to circulate, sending players into a frenzy over its rather cheap cost.
Now, Team Cherry has come out in front of those rumors to confirm that, yes, Silksong will be that cheap on release. So, no, you weren't dreaming about an extremely affordable title.
Specifically, the game will come in at $19.99 or €19.99, with the Japanese version costing ¥2300, likely due to the Yen's weak status. Elsewhere, the developers confirmed how early players can begin playing Silksong, so if you were planning on feeling "sick" on Sept. 4, you now have a dedicated time slot, depending on your region.
Is Silksong The First Game That People Want To Be Charged More For?
Originally, the price of $20 leaked on Friday, after GameStop inadvertently began advertising the Switch version of the game, showcasing a title that was a mere $5 more than its predecessor, nearly a decade later.
A day later, reliable leaker billbil-kun corroborated those leaks, with even further price reveals for other regions outside the United States. Still, things felt way too good to be true, and considering how Silksong fans have been teased over the years, official news was truly the way to go, which is what happened on Sunday.
Remarkably, the price of Silksong, when adjusted for inflation, is pretty much in line with the original Hollow Knight, a pretty major development in an era of soon-to-be $80 games. Of course, while many are out celebrating news of a cheap entry point, others are begging Team Cherry to charge them more.
"Y'all could have made the game $40, and I still would’ve bought it," one user wrote in response on Twitter.
The hype for Silksong is quite unlike anything we've ever seen.
