Every map in Helldivers 2 has some hidden areas to discover, and the SEAF Artillery is one of the most useful that you can find. These house-sized cannons fire enormous shells to any point on the map, giving you an extra Stratagem to deploy in battle. You also get extra XP and Requisition Slips for readying the weapon!

If it's your first time encountering a SEAF Artillery, it might not be immediately apparent just what you're supposed to do with it. Once you've learned the ins and outs of the system, though, you can even prepare the cannon for specific encounters.

How To Load The SEAF Artillery

Like most objectives in Helldivers 2, the SEAF Artillery is activated from a terminal. It's usually located in a circular area of concrete adjacent to the gun emplacement. Once the terminal is on, you can load up to five shells into the cannon.

Shells will be scattered around the area; look for the small indicator dots that highlight them. Interacting with a shell will cause your character to pick it up.

You'll move slowly while carrying a shell, and won't be able to fight without putting it down. If there are enemies nearby, one player should carry shells while the others defend your position.

While carrying a shell, interact with the chamberon the side of the cannon to load it. When five shells are loaded, activate the terminal again to ready the cannon. Your squad can now call in an artillery strike using the SEAF Artillery Stratagem.

The cannon can be used five times, and unused shells don't carry over after you extract. Fire at will!

What Do The Different Shell Colors Mean?

If you look closely, you'll notice that the artillery shells are different shapes and colors. The color of a shell indicate which type of payload it carries, thus determining its use on the battlefield. In many missions you'll find more than five shells strewn about, so load the ones that fit your objectives.

Static Shell: Deals damage on impact that ignores armor and leaves a field of electricity that slows and stuns anything caught in it.

Red

Napalm Shell: Deals heavy damage on impact. Anything caught in the blast or passing through the area for several seconds afterward catches fire.

Yellow

Smoke Shell: Limited damage, but creates a smoke screen over the impact area that impairs visibility.

The SEAF Artillery Stratagem fires shells in the order they were loaded, so someone on the team should keep track, ideally by writing it down.
