Mud: stinky, annoying, difficult to get rid of. This Gothic 1 Remake NPC can be found near Snaf and his pot of stew, and as soon as you walk past him, he latches on like a baby bird, and you can't get rid of him without resorting to violence.

Mud is harmless, like the Annoying Fan from some other RPGs you may know, but he sure is irritating. Here is everything you need to know about Mud and if you should get rid of him, how you can get rid of him, and how to unlock the Mud-related achievement.

How To Get The Mud Freak Achievement

Unless you avoid that entire strip of pathway near Snaf and his pot of stew, it seems like having Mud follow you is inevitable. Before you lure him out of the Old Camp and take him out, mob-style, you might want to unlock the Mud Freak achievement. This achievement can only be unlocked by allowing him to follow you around for a while.

To gain this achievement, you have to 'exhaust all of Mud's dialogue options'.

To unlock Mud Freak, take Mud out for a walk and have him talk at you endlessly. There are 24 voice lines to get through, but once they are all exhausted, you can try to get rid of Mud.

How To Get Rid Of Mud

As long as you have no empathy for NPCs, it is easy enough to get rid of Mud. All you have to do is lure him away from the camp and punch him or hit him with a weapon until he is knocked out. After he gets up, he accuses you of being a freak (excuse me!?) and runs back to camp.

After that, he won't bother you again, and you can walk past him in Old Camp without being spoken to. Peace at last. Make sure to get the achievement first, mind you, because he will refuse to join you for any more adventures after you punch him in the head.
