Of course, nothing can go well for Clive and co. for very long in Final Fantasy 16, and our intrepid heroes are attacked by a huge horde of Akashic soldiers. What follows makes up the bulk of Full Steam, this short and sweet story quest.
How To Slay The Akashic
This part of this stage should not be too troublesome - you'll be backed up not only by Joshua but Gav and Uncle Byron to boot. Despite the very large number of enemies, with these allies, you should never find yourself getting surrounded.
As ever, it's a good idea to take out the enemies that use special abilities first, such as those who use Warcry and the spellcasters.
As you're dealing with very large groups of enemies, it's handy to have area-of-effect attacks equipped. Flames of Rebirth and Aerial Blast are particularly great.
Eventually, you'll be put up against an Akashic Sveithvaldr. This massive enemy has a tough charging attack that will take huge chunks out of you, so make sure you lock onto this enemy as soon as it appears and make it your priority.
After destroying these enemies, you'll be thrust immediately into the boss battle of this short stage.
How To Beat The Sleipnirs
You're up against an infinitely-respawning army of Sleipnirs here, but don't worry too much - they don't have the same kit that the boss you fought in the Free Cities of Kanver had.
Instead, you can consider this a normal battle against a lot of regular swordsman enemies but with some added hazards to consider. For example, the Sleipnirs will infrequently summon small puddles of red energy that explode after a while. These are easy to see and give you plenty of time to get out of them, though.
As in the previous part of the stage, Flames of Rebirth and Aerial Blast will make short work of a large portion of the enemies.
Once you beat enough of the Sleipnirs, the stage will end and you'll unlock the next one immediately.
