Dawntrail's Graphics Update Is Letting Fans Recreate Memes With Gpose

Summary
- Final Fantasy 14's Dawntrail expansion has been pretty well-received, but the graphics update is one of its biggest highlights.
- Twitter user FeristalJ recently suggested putting on a Dawntrail expression contest to help people get used to gposing more complex facial features.
- With #Gfacials, Final Fantasy 14 players have been usingthe contest as an excuse to recreate every meme under the sun with their Warriors of Light.
Final Fantasy 14's Dawntrail expansion may have had a pretty rocky reception thanks to a slow story, but every other aspect appears to be going down rather well. One of the biggest improvements that came along with Dawntrail was the long-awaited graphics update, one which has proven to be quite drastic and has massively improved the game's environment and character models.
Of course, with better character models comes more potential for fancy gpose screenshots, though rather than take a nice picture of the sunset or Bakool Ja Ja's glistening pecs, it seems like a lot of fans are using the newly improved faces of their Warriors of Light to recreate every meme you can possibly think of.
Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail Players Are Recreating Memes With Gpose
It all started with Twitter user FeristalJ, who suggested a "Dawntrail Expression Challenge" to help people get used to tweaking facial poses in greater detail, using several famous smug facial expressions from across various TV shows and anime to practice. FeristalJ then went on to suggest that players use #Gfacials (yes, and unfortunate name, I know) to keep things organized. What ensued was something far greater than FeristalJ could have dared wish for.
It was going rather normally at first, until the larger Final Fantasy 14 community started recreating every meme they could possibly think of, and the hashtag meant to organize the contest is now chock-full of absolutely incredible recreations of famous memes.
When I say every meme you can think of, I very much mean it too. Twitter user SummonerSenpai even went out of their way to put together a little montage of all the best ones, which features the likes of Jerma, anime like Spy x Family and Frieren, and a healthy dose of cats, thanks to Dawntrail's introduction of the Hrothgals.
It's an impressive display of what Final Fantasy 14's gposing features are actually capable of, and that small montage above doesn't even include some of the great ones that popped up before the competition even began. It's almost enough to make you want to join in yourself, though some tells me my poor Elezen Warrior of Light would end up coming out the end of the experiment looking like an Au Ra that ate a slice of pizza.
NextFinal Fantasy 14: We Shouldn't Be Comparing Dawntrail To Endwalker
Not everyone is happy with FFXIV: Dawntrail's storyline, but I think part of the problem is players comparing it to Endwalker.
