Aside from how well it utilizes certain elements and Easter eggs from all the games in the series, Amazon's Fallout TV show also has some truly standout characters, and that includes the main cast as well as the more minor characters. One of those side characters the show follows is Thaddeus.

PostsWith only eight episodes total in Season One, it's pretty impressive how individual storylines come together and that no character feels like they're underdeveloped. Perhaps the most interesting plot point that even raises some questions is what happens to Thaddeus. Here's what his story's all about, explained.
Who Is Thaddeus In The Fallout TV Show?
CloseLike the main character Maximus, Thaddeus is a fellow Brotherhood of Steel initiate in training. He is not given an official assignment until the Brotherhood believes Maximus to be dead, thereby becoming the replacement squire for Knight Titus.
Thaddeus is a bully who makes life difficult for Maximus in the Brotherhood of Steel barracks. Thaddeus' introduction in the show is of him and his Brotherhood accomplices ganging up on Maximus and beating the living steel out of him.
His aspirations to join in the action come when Maximus assumes the identity of fallen Brotherhood Knight Titus (a cameo performed by Michael Rapaport). The Brotherhood leadership sends in Thaddeus as the new squire for Titus, who has no idea that it's really Maximus under the Power Armor.
From this point, things take quite a turn for Thaddeus like he would never have expected.
What Happens Between Thaddeus And Maximus, Explained
CloseSince Maximus wants all the glory for himself and is impersonating Knight Titus, he is immediately opposed to the idea of the Brotherhood of Steel sending him a new squire. When he finds out that it's Thaddeus, however, he meddles in some revenge.
After branding Thaddeus and having his fun tricking him into believing that he's actually the real Knight Titus, it becomes time to head back to the Brotherhood. That's when Maximus decides to reveal himself to Thaddeus and everything backfires.

Ad Victoriam
PostsThaddeus is loyal to the Brotherhood and doesn't side with Maximus about concealing what happened to the real Knight Titus. This causes a struggle to ensue, with Thaddeus trying to remove the fusion core from Maximus' Power Armor to render it useless.
CloseIn the process, before Thaddeus could pull the core out, Maximus slams the heavy boot of the Power Armor suit down on Thaddeus' foot and crushes it. Now, Thaddeus' foot is a gory, mangled mess.
Thaddeus also makes it off with Dr. Siggi Wilzig's head, an important 'quest item' that Lucy needs to take to Moldaver, and it's also what the Brotherhood needs to confirm that the target they were assigned to hunt is dead.
What Happens To Thaddeus After Drinking The Snake Oil Salesman's Serum, Explained
CloseIn the first season of Fallout, a Snake Oil Salesman character pops up throughout the Los Angeles wasteland, offering "serums that will make you grow an entire new foot."
It just so conveniently happens that Thaddeus encounters the Snake Oil Salesman before getting to the radio station and calling in the Brotherhood of Steel to send him a ride back to their base.

If Fallout was anything like Game of Thrones, its phrase would be 'Shady Sands remembers.'
PostsThe Snake Oil Salesman carries a suitcase full of unidentified ingredients in vials to combine into magical serums as though he's 'Wasteland Wonka.' He tells Thaddeus that this particular one will heal all, and he turns out to not be a fraud at all, though there's a catch.
Thaddeus' foot begins to regenerate just as he ingests the serum. The Snake Oil Salesman also mentions to Thaddeus that he won't ever have to worry about the effects of radiation again, leaving him confused.
Later in the episode, when Thaddeus is confronted by Lucy and Maximus in front of the KPSS radio station, he accidentally steps into one of the booby traps made by DJ Carl, which sends an arrow through his neck.
CloseHe doesn't die and can still speak pretty well, given the arrow lodged in him. When Thaddeus removes the arrow, his skin begins to regrow and Maximus tells him that he might be a Ghoul, which forces him to flee the Brotherhood.
It's not confirmed that Thaddeus is a Ghoul, because the Ghoulification process essentially entails one getting their flesh burned off by radiation and having prolonged exposure to it to turn into a zombified, almost immortal-like, undead character with consciousness.
The serum does, however, bestow Thaddeus with similar properties seen among Ghouls, like not needing to worry about radiation and regeneration (though not to the scale of limb and flesh regrowth that Thaddeus has).
When Lucy bit off The Ghoul's finger, he didn't regenerate a new one in place of it and instead had to sew another finger back on.
It's likely the Snake Oil Salesman has perfected a serum that can start Ghoulification in humans, but it can also be something that exists from the games. Plenty of fan theories are already being generated about what the official serum name might be.
