Dragon Age: The Veilguard won't be as good if it doesn't have its fair share of secrets to uncover.

Luckily, this haunting is fairly easy to find and focuses primarily on testing your wits and abilities in battle. Each encounter against an undead enemy is slightly different from the last, with this iteration focused on softening up your opponent and preparing them for burst damage.

How To Defeat The Lost Explorer

Close

First, go to the Lost Watcher's Wing in the Necropolis and follow your marker into a large circular room with a massive pillar in the center.

Once you enter far enough into the room, you'll encounter your haunting prey: The Lost Explorer.

This level 30 enemy is weak to Necrotic damage but resists Cold.

Rain of Decay is an excellent skill to use against this haunting.

The Lost Explorer is Necrotic Imbued and a Trapper, meaning it will attempt to render you and your companions immobile using its massive greataxe.

Avoid getting caught in your opponent's spinning attacks and pick your spots carefully.

Overwhelm The Lost Explorer and use skills that will inflict the Staggered condition, as this will open up your foe to huge chunks of burst damage.

Defeating The Lost Explorer is very easy if you employ Stagger, but can be a drawn-out affair if you don't, so be sure to prioritize neutralizing the foe before you begin throwing everything at it.

Keep away from the axe by using ranged attacks, then get in close to finish off The Lost Explorer with your most powerful detonating skills once it's stuck in place by a well-timed Stagger.

What Rewards Do You Get From Hauntings: From Beyond?

Close

After The Lost Explorer is defeated, you'll immediately earn the following:

  • 350 XP
  • Gold
  • Increases bond with Emmrich

Then, return to Myrna and Vorgoth in the Necropolis to complete Hauntings: From Beyond and receive an additional 400 Gold.

Another haunting bites the dust, but there are still scary skeletons and other undead creatures waiting for you in the remainder of Myrna and Vorgoth's quest line.

Have Dragon Age: The Veilguard's Reviews Influenced Your Decision To Buy It?

Review aggregates are not a monolith. Individual sites have diverse groups of writers, even, who might (and do, spoiler!) disagree with each other's scores at times. Just the same, are the reviews for Dragon Age: The Veilguard having you feeling better about a choice to grab it? Or better about a choice not to? Or pushed in one direction or the other? Or, perhaps, they're entirely immaterial to your degree of interest?
