The Operator: Day One Walkthrough

As the name suggests, in The Operator, you play as a newly hired operator at the FDI. While this job might sound boring, it's actually quite the opposite, as you will encounter very intriguing cases. If you think you'll be dealing with minor cases on your first day, you're mistaken.

The Operator Review - Who Wants To Be A CSI Agent?

Bad science.

On the first day, agents will call you with a homicide case and an abduction case. To solve these, you'll need to use your system effectively to assist the agents. But do you think there's a connection behind these incidents? Or are there really aliens behind the abduction case? You'll need to experience the first day to find out.

How To Complete The Tutorial

Your character will first automatically respond to ???'s questions under an interrogation light by pressing a button during a cutscene. At 7:30 AM, you will begin the tutorial portion of the mission.

You will encounter a login screen where you need to enter a username and password, but every letter you type in the username field will automatically fill in the username as 'evan.tanner'.

As soon as you log into the system, you will have earned the 'Welcome To The FDI' achievement.

Next, you will see the operator interface screen. On the right-hand side of the notifications section, you will see a notification that says 'Welcome to the FDI'. Open the file labeled 'Welcome' and read it. This will display a diagram explaining how the operator program works. After reading and closing this, Mike TRENCH will call you.

After finishing the conversation with him, you will see that one of the Supervisors, Xavier Skinner, is calling you. Before connecting you to the operators, Xavier will have you go through a trial to learn the mechanics. After his talk, he will ask you to click on the question mark to the right of the 'Find Skinner’s Age' text in the top left corner.

This question mark can be clicked whenever you are stuck.

Your current task is to find out Xavier's age. To do this, click on Applications in the top left corner. In the menu that opens, click on the HumanDB application. You need to enter his full name, Xavier Skinner.

Sometimes you might get a 'No Results Found' warning even after typing his name. In such cases, you need to write his name exactly as it appears, paying attention to case sensitivity. Although all letters appear capitalized while you type, using caps lock will resolve the issue.

After viewing Xavier Skinner's information screen, click on the yellow 'Find Skinner’s Age' menu text on the right side of the Applications menu in the top left. The screen will then flash blue, allowing you to make a selection with your cursor. Navigate to and select the 'Age' section on Skinner's screen. This will complete the test.

How To Solve The Bar Case

After the tutorial, at 09:18 AM, Xavier Skinner will call you again. You will face a challenging task involving an agent dealing with a homicide case. Subsequently, agent Alexandra Pendell will call you to provide information about the victim and the case details. She will ask you to find the Shooter’s ID.Open the Bar folder sent by Alexandra.

When you open the Cam_02 file, you will watch the scene of the victim being shot. Supervisor Xavier will tell you that you can analyze video elements by clicking on them. At this stage, you need to stop the video when the car is in front of the bar door. Then, click on the car’s license plate.

After the system analyzes the plate, it will show a close-up and clear image revealing that the plate is CPL-481. Click on the close-up image to analyze it again, and from the CARDB window, it will reveal that the car owner's name is Ray Wells.

Click on the yellow 'Find Killer’s Name' menu text above, then the screen will turn blue, allowing you to select Ray Wells's name.

After telling this to agent Alexandra, she will ask you to find the address of Ray Wells, the car owner. Open the HumanDB application from the Applications menu in the top left. Type Ray Wells's name in this application.

Then, click on the yellow 'Find Killer’s Address' menu text above, and after the screen turns blue, select the address next to Ray’s Last Known Address section. After informing Alexandra of this, you will have nothing left to do, and she will say she is going to arrest Ray. Xavier will then call you to share his thoughts. Afterward, you will have completed this case.

How To Solve The Desert Case

At 5:32 PM, you will encounter your second case. However, before that, you will receive a notification on the right side titled 'FDI Most Wanted'. While examining these individuals, your Supervisor, Xavier Skinner, will call you again. He will ask you to look into an investigation initiated by a previous operator.

Agent Barry Walker will then call you to provide information about the abduction case of Connie Moore, stating that everyone believes she was abducted by aliens. After learning that this abduction case is not limited to just Connie and that she is currently not missing, Agent Barry will send you a folder titled 'Desert'.

Your current objective is to find the inconsistency. First, look at the Phone_Rec and Testimony files. Then, open the Camera file and view the photos from the second tab. There will be a total of three photos.

If you click on the 'i' icon in the top right corner of the photos, you will see the dates they were taken. While the first two photos were taken on 02/05/1992, interestingly, the UFO sighting photo was taken on 02/21/1992. This means the photo was taken 16 days after Connie Moore disappeared.

At this stage, click on the yellow 'Find Inconsistency' text above. Then select the date of the UFO photo. After talking to Agent Barry about this inconsistency, your next task will be to find the location where the photo was taken. Open the Phone_Rec file.

Since the UFO photo was taken at 10:13, you need to select the 10:15 section on the map in the Phone_Rec file. Select 'Find Photo Location' in the yellow section above and then choose 10:15. After speaking with Agent Walker again, the case will close, but your operation system will restart.

While your system is restarting, you will see that it has been hacked by Hal. After talking to him a bit, he will show you a connection between the two cases. However, after a conversation about coincidences and the mysterious redacted name on the list, your computer's login screen will appear, and you will need to re-enter your login information.

As soon as you log back in, Supervisor Xavier will call you and ask why you were offline. At this point, you must either tell the truth or lie to him.

Whether you lie to him or tell him the truth at the end of the game has no effect.

Afterward, your shift will end, and you can complete the first day by selecting 'Power Off' from the menu above.

After completing the first day, you will have earned the 'First Day' achievement.
