Players have been asking for a Digimon Card Game online simulator for a long time, and now, with Digimon Alysion coming to mobile devices, we can finally rest easy. But hold on one second, we still don’t know that much about the game to be completely content with what Bandai has up their sleeves in the future.

This game could give a massive increase into the Digimon Card Game player base, both online and in person, but there are a lot of things that fans have been asking for to be in the game for it to not fail. Some of them are self-explanatory, like “be good”, while others are a bit more nuanced for the specific needs of the Digimon Card Game players.

Different Ways To Play

With the announcement of World Unification and both the Japanese and Western formats syncing up, players also received a new format announcement. Regulation Battle is the second alternate format that Bandai has tried. The first one being the Ultimate Cup format that received its own banlist for a short period of time.

Regulation Battle, most commonly known by other card game players as “pauper” format, is played by only using Common and Uncommon cards. The format is still in its infancy, but with Alysion right around the corner, they could do something similar in game.

Who Doesn't Love A Good Story?

In the Digimon Con announcement for Digimon Alysion, we learned about a new Digimon, the cute Gemmon, and a story revolving around its partner. Most Digimon games have had excellent stories, so Digimon Alysion shouldn’t be the exception.

The only problem is that there is already another Digimon storyline based around the card game, the webcomic Digimon Liberator, so hopefully Alysion’s story won’t be too similar to Shoto and Pteromon’s story within the digital version of the card game.

8 Fun Things To Collect Other Than Cards

Collect Everything!

One of the best things about other card game simulators is all of the different goodies that you can collect outside of cards. Sleeves, playmats, icons, etc. They may seem innocuous at first, but these things can draw a ton of people to the game.

Yu-Gi-Oh!’s Master Duel does this in an excellent way, and we hope that Digimon follows suit and includes some incredible partner Digimon to watch you as you play against friends and foes alike. How cute would a little Terriermon, cheering you on the side, be?

7 Current Card Pool

All Of The Cards, From Day One

Unlike Yu-Gi-Oh! or Magic: The Gathering, the Digimon Card Game is far younger and has a smaller card pool, but that doesn’t mean that the older cards are still seeing play in regular play in the current format. Sure, it would still be fun to take it back to BT01 Omnimon turbo, but those cards just don’t stand up to the power that current cards do.

Let's Get Competitive

A ranked game mode is one of the best things an online card game can have. There is no worse feeling than queuing up online with your fun rogue deck then getting matched up against a tier one deck. A ranked mode fixes that issue, for the most part.

Especially for what seems to be a mostly casual-centered game, Alysion would benefit greatly for a ranked game for all of the hardcore players to go to, while the casual players can have fun with decks they started the game out with.

5 Crafting System

Just Let Me Play My Decks

Pulling cards from packs is one of the catalysts that make up card games, and while it can be a fun surprise to see what you get, it can be rather bothersome if you just want to jump in and play your favorite deck.

A crafting system being implemented from the get-go would be amazing for Alysion. Not only have Digimon Card Game players been asking for an online simulator for a while now, but restricting them from playing the decks they already know unless they pull an ungodly amount of packs would be upsetting.

4 Gorgeous Animations

If you’ve played any of the Digimon Story games, then you know that one of the biggest things that Bandai focuses on their games is their Digimon signature attack animations, so it’s no surprise to want them, or something similar in the digital version of their card game.

Master Duel does this in an excellent way, with their most popular monsters popping out of the cards with a full-screen animation, albeit a bit low quality. Bandai should take note of this.

3 Readability

Too Much Text

Like most card games, the Digimon Card Game began with very simple one-line effects on their card text, but as the game evolved, and the inherited effects mechanic, the complete card text of a full digivolution line can make up the total equal to a Pendulum Monster in Yu-Gi-Oh!.

One of the biggest challenges that Digimon Alysion will face is condensing all of this information in a readable fashion. Not only can the text get quite long, but some decks like DNA decks can even load up to 14 cards in their sources, making them a nightmare to look through.

2 PC Port

Please Please Please Don't Embarrass Me, Bandai

When Digimon Alysion was announced, the only confirmed platform for release was mobile, and while this is a fun way to play Digimon Card Game anywhere you want, a PC port of them game is highly necessary. Not only does this amplify the player base, but this simulator could even be used for tournament play if Bandai builds it correctly.

Digimon Card Game and other card games that were popular during the COVID pandemic turned into webcam tournaments for organized play, and while this was a great middle ground for players who had to stay home, cheating was far easier.

1 New Cards

New 'Mons, New Decks

During the Alysion presentation, it was revealed that new cards would be coming to the game that would be exclusive to Alysion. While this is exciting to see what new effects these card will have, this would mean that Alysion would be a different format than in paper.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, because if these cards are popular within the fan base, it would be another way for Bandai to make money, so printing them on paper would be an easy decision.
