Destiny 2: Into The Light - How To Increase Your Lord Shaxx Reputation

Destiny 2's Into the Light update has added a new PvE tower defense mode. Named Onslaught, this three-player activity pushes your Guardian's build to its limit. When your fireteam starts to struggle, there's only one person who can strengthen your resolve: Lord Shaxx.

PostsEveryone's favorite PvP commentator is the main vendor for Onslaught, and he has some fantastic rewards up for grabs if you make him proud. Get comfortable throwing grenades, as you'll need to complete many waves of Onslaught if you want to impress Lord Shaxx and get your hands on his most coveted items, including the long-requested Superblack Shader.
Lord Shaxx Reputation
It turns out that Lord Shaxx isn't just a hype man inside the Crucible. Successfully defending the ADU in the Onslaught activity builds Shaxx's enthusiasm and generates Hype, the reputation mechanic for this activity. It's functionally identical to the ritual vendor reputation systems and Xur's Strange Favor.
As you build up Hype with Lord Shaxx, you will earn Brave Engrams which can be redeemed for Onslaught weapons. These Engrams are earned at specific thresholds of Hype, otherwise known as reputation divisions.
Unlike most vendors, Hype has a linear progression model. In other words, each rank requires the same amount of reputation. This results in a slower initial rank-up experience than one might expect, but reaching max rank with Shaxx should require the same effort as all other ritual vendors. Exact rank-up thresholds are showcased below.
Article-In Progress
Shaxx's Hype mechanic has linear rank-up requirements based on data we've collected thus far. We aren't sure if this behavior applies to all 17 ranks; further testing is needed.
For now, take this table with a grain of salt. We'll update this article if we discover any further rank-up differences.

How To Increase Hype With Shaxx
Lord Shaxx's favorite pastime is to watch your Guardian utterly crush the enemies of humanity. Completing Onslaught waves and bounties from the Hall of Champions are your main sources of Hype. Since Shaxx's reputation system uses a linear curve, your best bet for quickly ranking up is to complete every bounty currently available from Shaxx and Arcite 99-40.
- Arcite Bounties (Weekly): +100-400 Hype
- +100 Hype (x2)
- +200 Hype (x2)
- +400 Hype (x1)
- Shaxx Bounties (Daily): +25 Hype
Excluding bounties, your only other source of Hype is to play Onslaught. Each wave you clear grants +5 Hype. Based on our limited testing, this value seems static and does not scale based on your current wave. It's arguably faster to clear the Onslaught playlist than struggling to clear 50 waves. If you find the later stages of Onslaught difficult, farm the first ten waves instead.
All Shaxx Onslaught Rewards
As with all ritual vendors, Lord Shaxx has a dedicated reward track that will unlock as you increase your Hype levels. Each division rank comes with its own reward. For example, hitting Brave I (R4) will unlock access to the class item chest in the Hall of Champions. The final reward for reaching Legend is Superblack Key Alpha. Claim the Omega key from Arcite 99-40, and you'll unlock the Superblack Shader.
Vendor Reset
Lord Shaxx's reputation cannot be reset, regardless of your reputation ranking. Once you reach max rank, you will no longer earn Brave Engrams or other reputation rewards from Shaxx.
