It's hard to resist the allure of a shiny new armor set, especially if it looks swanky. Though many new enemies, bosses, and NPCs have been added, the various new armor sets are perhaps the most enticing of all the additions.

If your build isn't working out, don't lose hope! There's a way to respec your character in Dark Souls 3.
PostsThere are many reasons to check out this great and challenging new mod, but one of the top ones for sure is checking out the new suits of armor you can clad yourself in. With interesting new set pieces like this, each with its own lore implications, it's hard not to see the appeal.
All armor pieces in this article come from the Dark Souls Archthrones Demo mod and are not featured in the standard version of the game. This mod was created by the Archthrones team and can be downloaded here from Nexus mods.
10 Iron Priest Armor
CloseThe Iron Priest armor set is an interesting remix of the standard chain mail armor that can be found in the Dark Souls games. It features more leather pieces, an iron ring in the center of the chest mail, and baggier leggings. You would be forgiven if you couldn't initially tell that this is a chain mail style.
In terms of stats, this is a pretty standard type of armor that has medium weight and poise. It is best used for defending against physical, strike, and fire damage.
9 Fencer Armor
Though the combat of the Dark Souls series isn't associated with fencing, there have been a few rapiers here and there that have hinted at this style of sword fighting existing in this universe. The Archthrones mod taps into that by providing the new Fencer Armor set.
The helmet is the most unique-looking piece of the set, thanks to its razor-thin visor. This set deals very well against slash and thrust damage but has very low defense against lightning damage. Be sure to swap it for something else when fighting enemies hurling lightning bolts at you.
8 Geisteel Armor
Inspired by the Drang Knight enemies of Irithyll, the Geisteel Armor is designed with many thin grooves that give it a sleek appearance. Like the Fencer Armor set, its helmet also sports a thin eye visor, making it stand out from your usual steel armor headpieces.

You either 'git gud' or you die trying.
Posts 1Despite the medium weight, the stats for the Gesiteel pieces are quite good. It doesn't fare well against magic damage but will provide a solid defense against all other forms of harm, including fire and dark. This is a good set to equip in the Eleum Loyce, Boreal Valley area.
7 Emissary Armor
This is, for all intents and purposes, the main armor for the Archthrones mod, much in the same way that the Elite Knight Armor was the main set for Dark Souls 1. The Emissary armor is one of the first full armor sets you will receive in this mod, regardless of which class you pick.
Without giving much away, the Emissary Armor is closely related to the story of this new mod. Its trademark green fabric and feathers have helped the Archthrones mod establish its own identity. It offers very good physical defense for a medium-weight piece and is a great choice for melee builds.
6 Phoenix Guard Armor
If you're more into heavier armor pieces for maximum defense and poise, this mod has got you covered, too. The Phoenix Guard Armor set is inspired by the Old Knight enemies of Dark Souls 2, making it a great way to feel domineering over most enemies.
This is a very heavy armor set and will over-encumber most builds. Use Havel's Ring, which can be found at the end of the boss stage featuring the Siege Golem, found in the Bountiful Queen Archthrone by the Castle Approach bonfire. You do not have to defeat the boss to obtain the ring.
This is easily one of the best armor sets in the mod. Its only downside is that it is very heavy, but it will protect you well from nearly all forms of damage, especially slash, thrust, and fire damage sources.
5 Tarnished Brass Armor
CloseFor players who want armor that looks as distinctive as possible, the Tarnished Brass set will be a top choice. It looks like a once highly prized armor set that has weathered over centuries, giving it a spectacular look that is perfect for Fashion Souls.
It offers decent stats as well, making it one of the better medium-weight sets in the mod. It's not a great choice for poise or for lightning defense, so don't expect to be able to tank through the tougher boss attacks with these pieces.
4 Captain Armor
Not to be confused with the Alonne Captain Armor of Dark Souls 2, The Captain Armor of the Archthrones mod is inspired by one of the bosses, making it an expensive set of clothes to purchase.

The Dark Souls 3 DLC features a lot of imposing bosses. Here's a look at all of them, ranked by their difficulty.
PostsFans of Dark Souls 3's first DLC should find the looks of this set familiar. It's hard to deny that the antler helmet isn't reminiscent of the Millwood Knights. This can make it a fun armor set to use in the icy areas of the game. It's a little heavy, but the poise and magic defense are nothing to sneeze at.
3 Heide Queensguard Armor
CloseThe Heide Queensguard Armor is very similar to the Heide Knight Armor set of Dark Souls 2. These enemies can still be encountered in the Archthrones mod, but this new armor set has been redone with dark colors, fewer rags, and a more weathered-looking helmet.
It's a little on the light side and offers solid defense in all categories. This is a good set to use and is viable in all areas of the mod for builds that aren't focusing on improving their equipment load very much.
2 Siege Golem Armor
Sometimes, big, beefy armor is the only tool for the job. The Siege Golem set is inspired by one of the new bosses added by this mod, meaning it can be purchased from the Nexus merchant after the boss is defeated. Fans of Dark Souls 1 may find this armor set reminiscent of the Iron Golem of Sen's Fortress.
This armor set is not only expensive but very heavy as well. If you can wear it, it will provide excellent defense in all categories except for fire. Equip this armor for enemies that tend to shoot magic at you.
1 Angel Armor
CloseOut of all the armor sets added by this mod, the Angel Armor is the best of the bunch. It's a boss set, too, meaning it needs to be purchased after defeating one of the many new bosses exclusive to the Archthrones mod.
This is an absolutely gorgeous-looking set of armor. The bright silver and gold make it look royal, making you feel like a truly legendary knight. One could easily argue that the Angel Armor is on par with the best armor sets in gaming. It also has very impressive stats with no downsides whatsoever. It has very high poise despite its weight, so you can definitely use this armor for protection against all the endgame bosses.
