Counter-Strike 2 has implemented a loadout system that lets you choose weapons to equip and buy during the game by organizing them into groups. The division is between pistols, mid-tier weapons, and rifles instead of weapon types like it was in the previous iteration of Counter Strike.

PostsStill, even though they’ve clumped heavy weapons and SMGs in CSGO into the mid-tier of weapons, SMGs are still considered to be superior and knowing which ones to equip in your loadout is essential. Every weapon is appropriate for its own use, but some of these guns outshine others in many ways, like versatility, damage or even price.
7 PP-Bizon
Price/Kill Award
$1400 / $600
Damage/Armor Penetration
27 / 63.00%
Fire Rate
750.00
Ammo/Reserve
64/120
The PP Bizon has always been memed about since its introduction in Counter-Strike Global Offensive and rightfully so. The harsh truth is that it is a very mediocre SMG and there are cheaper and better options available in this category. However, that’s not to say it’s completely useless.
The almost unlimited amount of bullets it has makes it very useful to spray without any regard for reloading, similar to how the Negev functions. The strategy would be to pick this gun up in anti-ecos and spray like there’s no tomorrow. The low damage and close-range effectiveness is not enough to spend more money on it than the other SMGs on this list though.
6 MP5-SD
Price/Kill Award
$1500 / $600
Damage/Armor Penetration
27 / 62.50%
Fire Rate
750.00
Ammo/Reserve
30/120
The MP5-SD is the slightly less competitively viable SMG alternative to the MP7, and perhaps one of the most iconic weapons in the Counter-Strike series. It was a later addition to CS:GO and carried on over to CS2 where it has found its place in the graces of the Eco round.

PostsIt’s cheap, suppressed, and accurate to a certain degree, but the damage drop off in long-range fights is too big to not consider. It’s not a bad gun by no means; in fact it performs better in certain maps, but only certain kinds of players like it over its older brother, the MP7.
5 MP7
Price/Kill Award
$1500 / $600
Damage/Armor Penetration
29 / 62.50%
Fire Rate
750.00
Ammo/Reserve

The MP7 is the MP5-SD alternative that is mostly used in the MP5’s place because of its higher damage and range. Using the MP7 is reminiscent of using a rifle like the M4 but it doesn’t compare to them in range or damage. However, the relatively simple recoil pattern and cheap price makes it a great choice for eco and anti-eco rounds.
Using it on the terrorist side is especially effective because of its close-range effectiveness when spraying and rushing a bomb site. Using it along with a Desert Eagle for long-range in a map like Anubis is the perfect cheap combo for many players, making it one of the easiest SMGs to use.
4 UMP-45
Price/Kill Award
$1200 / $600
Damage/Armor Penetration
35 / 65.00%
Fire Rate
666.67
Ammo/Reserve
25/100
The UMP-45 has seen better days, but it’s still a highly effective SMG when compared to the other weapons at this price point. Costing a measly $1,200 means it’s the perfect choice for any kind of round that’s not a buy round or pistol round.
The spraying potential at close to medium ranges is amazing and incomparable with other SMGs, but its limiting factor is the magazine size. Just like the MP7, the recoil pattern is relatively simple, making it a popular choice in lower ranks. Firing at long range in controlled bursts makes it highly effective, especially when aimed at the head.
3 P90
Price/Kill Award
$2350 / $300
Damage/Armor Penetration
26 / 69.00%
Fire Rate
857.14
Ammo/Reserve
50/100
The P90 is the undisputed spray and pray king of guns in Counter Strike 2. The low damage and close range of the P90 makes it relatively useless in medium to long ranges, but at close range, there’s no other weapon that comes close to the P90. It’s the perfect choice for rushing because of its extremely fast fire rate and large magazine size.

The company might not be able to count up to three, but it surely delivers some fantastic games.
PostsThe strategy to employ with the P90 is always going to be rushing the enemy, no matter what side you’re on. You can burst fire with it, but it’s generally much worse in that category than other cheaper SMGs like the UMP-45 but is still one of the best SMGs in the game.
2 MP9
Price/Kill Award
$1250 / $600
Damage/Armor Penetration
26 / 60.00%
Fire Rate
857.14
Ammo/Reserve
30/120
The ultra-cheap middle ground between the P90 and the UMP-45 is the CT sided MP9, which has excellent mobility and fire rate. It costs almost the same as the UMP-45 and is usually preferred over every other SMG in eco rounds and anti-eco rounds. The fast reload speed coupled with the high damage at close range makes the MP9 the perfect weapon for ambushing terrorists.
Catching them off guard and peaking the enemy in a map like Overpass is quick and satisfying. It’s not as easy to use as the UMP-45 or the P90, but once you get good and consistent with the recoil and strategies, it outshines everything else on the CT side.
1 MAC-10
Price/Kill Award
$1050 / $600
Damage/Armor Penetration
29 / 57.50%
Fire Rate
800.00
Ammo/Reserve
30/100
The MAC-10 is the terrorist side counterpart of the MP9 that is the cheapest SMG in the game. It’s the perfect choice for an anti-eco while playing as a Terrorist because of its high damage on unarmored opponents. Just like the MP9, the mobility and the spray potential is amazing at close range, making it a great option for T-side rushes.
The range and the poor armor penetration are perhaps the worst part of this gun, but at $1050 you can’t get a better weapon that gives you such a high kill reward and an above-average gun that excels at close range, better than even some rifles, especially if you're using a dot crosshair.
