Although Content Warning is best enjoyed with friends, solo play and joining random lobbies are also options. If you're unsure about how to host or join a game in Content Warning, here's a guide that explains just that.

How To Host A Game In Content Warning

The hosting process in Content Warning is very straightforward. To host a game, you have to:

  1. Launch Content Warning on your PC.
  2. The main menu will appear with some options. Click the option that says "Play With Friends.
  3. Afterward, you'll be taken to an interface with three slots to save progress; select one to save your progress. Below that, you'll find the "Host" option. Click on that to proceed.
  4. You'll instantly drop into the lobby, the house's second floor, where you can invite your friends.

Inviting Your Friends

There are two ways to invite your friends to a game you host.

  • Steam Overlay: Open it by pressing Shift + Tab. Open the friends list and click on your friend's username, and select the invite option. Your friend will drop in the lobby as soon as they accept your invite.
  • Invite Friends Terminal: There's an invitation section on the house's second floor. Go there, and press the 'E' key to see the friend list. Select the friend you want to invite.

How To Join A Game In Content Warning

Solo players can join random matches by clicking on the "Join Random" option located below "Play With Friends." However, it comes with a few downsides, such as:

  • Each run is three days long, so you can never finish it unless you form a lobby with three players.
  • You'll start from scratch each time when you queue for a random match, which happens after a few trial matches.
  • Players encounter a 'Maximum size' error through random matchmaking, which goes away in a while. It is not devastating, but it isn't enjoyable either.
