PostsThere are countless memorable moments that live in your head rent-free. So, which missions in the Black Ops series are the ones you’ll always come back to even after the game’s lifespan is over? These are the ten most exciting missions ever featured in the Call of Duty: Black Ops series.
10 Operation 40
A Controversial Mission
Operation 40 is the perfect introduction to the Black Ops franchise. While prior games begin with military training or with your character in uniform on a mission, Operation 40 starts with Mason, Bowman, and Woods in a Cuban bar discussing an undercover plan.
The start made you feel like you were on a top-secret mission. Then, when you are found out, it’s a battle against the Cuban police as you escape and prepare to take down Castro. The mission is also the first where the objective was to kill a dictator that was still alive at the time.
9 Executive Order
Blow Up A Rocket
After an encounter with John F. Kennedy in a previous mission, Executive Order drops you off in a Soviet cosmodrome facility. With the Russians getting ready to launch, you are introduced to Dragovich’s right-hand man, Krevchenko.
Sneaking onto the base, you get to save Weaver after ziplining into the compound he is being held in. Then, you have to beat the clock and sabotage the rocket before time runs out. Playing this level on Veteran can be a challenge, but a heart-pumping and exciting one.
8 Time and Fate
Play As The Villain
Call of Duty villains are usually one-note and defined more by the deeds they commit rather than their motivations as characters. Black Ops 2 tried to do something different by making its villain, Raul Menendez, evil, but in a way that players could see why he hates the protagonists so much.

7 Karma
No Time For Failure
Karma is one of the most exciting missions in Call of Duty Black Ops 2. It features a hit song by Skrillex as you search for the weapon known as Karma. Later, it is revealed that Karma is not a weapon at all, but a person, and the clock is ticking to rescue her.
The ultimate hacker is taken hostage by the terrorist group Cordis Die. Due to Black Ops 2’s unique failure mechanic, it is possible to fail the mission, thus affecting the final outcome of the story. Tensions are extra high with this in mind, leading to a heart-pumping and fast-paced chase.
6 Judgment Day
To Kill Or Capture Raul Menendez
Judgment Day is the final battle against Raul Menendez’s men. With one last chance to stop Menendez from weakening the U.S. drone defense system, David Mason deploys onto his base. Starting with an action-packed drop sequence, the excitement only deepens depending on your previous missions.
Depending on which countries you assisted during strike missions, they will appear and lend a hand throughout the final fight. You will get messages from each faction letting you know they have arrived to help. Finally, you choose to end Menendez or capture him alive.
5 Demon Within
Zombies In Campaign
Black Ops III was a huge departure for the series, jumping far into the future and disconnecting itself from many of the plot threads of the original. However, it also had its cool moments to throw players back to the past in an unexpected way.

4 Project Nova
One Last Reznov Mission
Call of Duty World At War is confirmed to be part of the Black Ops timeline. Project Nova bridges the gap between both games, giving some backstory as to how Viktor Reznov ended up in Vorkuta.
Told in a flashback, it brings players to the end of WWII where the origins of Nova Six are revealed. The snowy level also brought back weapons from World at War and even featured music from the Russian missions to hit players with a wave of nostalgia.
3 Payback
Helicopters And Hallucinations
Payback is where the plot twists in the original Black Ops become more apparent. Characters start asking you if you are ok while talking with Reznov. Reznov also appears just to goad you into going after Kravchenko. Something fishy is going on, but don’t let that distract you from piloting the helicopter.
This mission also lets you take part in dogfights in the sky as you combat other choppers and lend aid to your comrades down below. The map features high stakes from the Russian roulette game at the start to Woods's seemingly explosive death at the end.
2 Brick In The Wall
A Good Stealth Mission
Call of Duty isn’t always known for its stealth mechanics, but in Cold War, one mission in particular made great use of it. Brick in the Wall takes the action of Call of Duty and brings it to a halt. Instead, you are tasked with sneaking around a civilian city.

Vorkuta has you following each of Reznov’s eight steps towards freedom. Instantly quotable and each part memorable because of the emphasis on steps, the mission is a timeless classic that will always start with securing the keys and end with freedom.
