The latest Cyberpunk 2077 patch addresses an issue causing saves to corrupt on PlayStation after starting the Phantom Liberty DLC. However, the patch notes also state that it won't bring back saves that have already been corrupted, so anyone who experienced this bug has lost their progress for good.

At the very least, with version 2.01 installed, you shouldn't run into the issue again, so PS5 players can return to Dogtown once more. CD Projekt Red previously suggested that the issue was caused by saving over a base game save to make a Phantom Liberty save. It definitely seems that this was the issue after all, as the fix that the devs are rolling out makes it so the game can handle larger save files, accommodating all of the extra content in Phantom Liberty.

Patch 2.01 is listed as "coming soon", so fingers crossed, PlayStation fans won't have to wait too much longer. It makes a few little fixes to the Phantom Liberty update, but the most significant is definitely addressing the save corruption issue.

"Addressed the issue of corrupted saves on PlayStation by increasing the maximum save file size limit," read the patch notes. "Note: this won't fix the saves corrupted before the update. If you're experiencing the issue, keep a working save (e.g. resave it as manual save) till 2.01 arrives."

In other words, keep saving into new save slots until the update is here, not over old saves. Also, it's probably best not to rely on autosaves right now, as CDPR explicitly mentions making sure you have a manual save. Alas, you won't be getting back those lost hours from corrupted saves either, so hopefully, that doesn't account for too much lost time.

Aside from that, patch 2.01 should also improve the performance in Dogtown across all platforms, as the busy market area was causing a noticeable framerate dip. It also seems that the recent update may have caused some issues in the base game, with the new patch now fixing a bug that caused V to unexpectedly die in The Heist, one of the earlier missions in the main story.

Other than these issues, the new update and expansion are going down well with the fanbase. Combat has been completely overhauled, boasting a new perk system that allows for more creativity with your character build. There are also a few Edgerunners references chucked in there, in case you want to be reminded of the anime that broke everyone's hearts last year. This is the last major update, after all, so there's plenty tucked in there for players to find.
