Updated December 4, 2023: We've updated this guide to include more information on tips on how best to complete this quest.

How To Unlock The 'Steal A Githyanki Egg' Quest

You can find Lady Esther at (X:-43, Y:-128) in the Mountain Pass, northeast of the Trielta Crags waypoint.

Speak with her, and she'll tell you how she tried to buy a Githyanki egg but failed. She asks you to get one in her stead, which will unlock the 'Steal a Githyanki Egg' quest. You have a few options here:

  • Agree to get her a Githyanki egg.
  • If you already have the Owl Egg, you can trick her into believing this is the egg she seeks.
  • Ask her if she has anything worth trading — she has some rare and uncommon items worth checking out.
  • Agree and persuade her to pay 250 gold upfront, but you must pass a Persuasion skill check of 21.
  • Refuse and kill her.
  • Walk away.

Be warned, once you hand any type of egg over to Lady Esther and complete the quest, you will no longer be able to trade with her.

Make sure that you purchase anything you want from her before completing the quest.

How To Trick Lady Esther With The Owlbear Egg

If you don't want to steal a Githyanki egg but you still want to reap the rewards, you can deceive Lady Esther with an Owlbear egg.

If you haven't already found the Owlbear egg, we have a full guide on where to find it here.

  • You can pass a Nature skill check of 21 to convince her it's the right egg. You'll receive approximately 250 gold as a reward.
  • You can pass a Deception skill check of 21 to tell her the owlbear egg is worth a lot more. You'll receive approximately 250 gold as a reward.
  • You can pass a Persuasion skill check of 21 to convince her that her employers won't know the difference between an Owlbear egg and a Githyanki egg. You'll receive approximately 250 gold as a reward.

How To Get The Githyanki Egg

If you want to bag yourself a real Githyanki egg, you'll have to steal it from the Githyanki creche.

We have a guide on how to find and enter the Githyanki creche here.

You'll want to head to the hatchery at (X:1,316, Y:-781). If Lae'zel is with you, she'll comment on how she expected to see more eggs. There are a couple of ways to get your hands on the egg.

Be careful, as entering the water will inflict Otherworldly Miasma on your party.

It's best to make your party hang back and have only one person travel through it to reach Varsh Ko'kuu's Boots or the egg.

Ask For The Egg

Speak with Varsh Ko'kuu, and if you pass an Insight check, you can ask him why he's so desperate to save this one egg. You can persuade him to tell you by passing a skill check of 14, then persuade him to let you help him by taking the egg by passing a skill check of 16.

Afterwards, he'll give you the Varsh Ko'kuu's Boots so you can pass through the acidic water without damaging you. You can then head over and collect the egg at (X:1,274, Y:-762).

If you choose to crush the egg beneath your foot, it will cause Varsh Ko'kuu and the two guards to attack you.

Take The Egg By Force

If you try and get anywhere close to the egg, you'll find yourself succumbing to acid, accidentally setting off traps, and likely engaged before having to fight the nearby Githyanki. If you don't want to do this the peaceful way, you'll have to defeat Varsh Ko'kuu and two other Githyanki to take the egg.

Varsh Ko'Kuu has a high HP and can pack a punch, as can the Warrior Vu'un, so you'll want to approach this tactfully. Be careful not to go into the miasma — Varsh Ko'Kuu may use attacks that send your party members flying into the miasma, so get them out of there quickly.

Once you've defeated them, you can loot their bodies for various gear, including the Varsh Ko'kuu's Boots so you can approach the egg without taking damage.

The other Githyanki in the creche will remain unaware of your heinous deeds, and you can walk around safely after slaughtering the Githyanki hatchery and stealing the egg.

Return to Lady Esther, and you'll receive approximately 280 gold for your trouble if you give her the authentic Githanki egg.
