As such, these one-time-use items can quickly turn the tide of a battle or offer a creative solution to a problem.

DIGITAL10 Scroll Of Enlarge
A Tricky Scroll That Lets The Player Enlarge Or Shrink Fellow Characters
- Can be found in the Myconid Colony in the Underdark, or bought from Blurg’s Store and Sorcerous Sundries.
- Changing the size of party members and enemies alike has a wide range of useful applications.
- Scroll of Enlarge
An uncommon scroll, Enlarge gives you the option to increase or decrease the size of characters. This versatility makes it invaluable to have on hand. If you enlarge a party member, you can dramatically boost their damage and strength, which can be useful during fights for obvious reasons. There are more strategic options than just that, though. If you need to pass a Strength check, for instance, this could be just the scroll.
On the other hand, the shrinking effect can be used against an enemy, as it decreases Attack and Strength. If you choose your target carefully, you can have a much easier time in important battles. Alternatively, you can use shrinking to worm your way into tight spots and access new areas.
9 Scroll Of Dimension Door
Allows For Very Versatile Teleportation Options
- Can be bought at Sorcerous Sundries.
- The user can teleport around the environment and even carry a party member along with them.
- Scroll of Dimension Door
A rare scroll, Dimension Door is essentially a more powerful version of Misty Step, allowing you to instantly transport yourself and (this part is crucial to how useful it is) one ally. This can be essential for some of the missions in the game that require objectives to be completed before a certain number of turns pass.
Unlike Fly, another ability that has a similar range, it doesn't require Concentration, and you can't be knocked out of the air. Other uses for this scroll include quickly moving yourself and an ally to a difficult-to-reach location, getting an NPC to safety, or quickly taking out ranged opponents.
8 Scroll Of Hold Monster
Trap Difficult Opponents In Place For A Brief Period
- Can be bought at Sorcerous Sundries.
- This scroll allows the user to temporarily incapacitate challenging targets.
- Scroll of Hold Monster
This very rare scroll is a version of Hold Person for monsters. Essentially, it allows you to bind a non-humanoid and land a chain of critical hits while it can't fight back.

Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you the chance to get cool magic items for your characters, and here are the best you can acquire.
PostsIt's a Concentration spell that can be broken by a saving roll, but it's nonetheless incredibly useful in the many, many fights against non-human foes. If employed at the right moment, this scroll can turn the tide of a fight, especially if used to gain an early advantage over an opponent with high health. It won't be a great damage-dealer itself, but it isn't supposed to, because its utility is incredible. If you're tackling a monstrous foe that you're not quite sure about defeating, this scroll will help you prevail.
7 Scroll Of Disintegrate
A Mighty Blast Of Force Damage
- Can be bought at Sorcerous Sundries.
- This scroll is a powerful offensive weapon, rather than offering a utility spell.
- Scroll of Disintegrate
A very rare scroll, Disintegrate is an attack that does an impressive 10d6 + 40 points of Force damage. With a minimum damage output this high, the scroll is useful for knocking out large chunks of a difficult enemy's health without wasting a spell slot, and can deal even more damage than you were expecting.
It's important to note that this scroll will do exactly what it says on the tin: If the target hits zero health points as a result of the attack, it will disintegrate their corpse. As such, you'll need to make sure you're not using it on anyone you want to talk to after their death. Take its potential damage output into account before committing to it.
6 Scroll Of Chain Lightning
A Powerful Multi-Hitting Elemental Barrage
- Can be bought at Sorcerous Sundries.
- The perfect weapon against smaller groups of foes, providing that Lightning is effective against them.
- Scroll of Chain Lightning
A very rare scroll, Chain Lightning deals 10d8 of lightning damage to a target and does the same to up to three more foes in rapid succession. What makes this so useful is the ability to hit so many targets at once with such a concentrated attack.
If you're facing a handful of mid-level opponents, this scroll can end the fight as soon as it starts. The effectiveness of this scroll can also be increased by using it over a wet surface, which will increase the Lightning's damage (taking advantage of the terrain is a huge part of Baldur's Gate 3's combat). Potent elemental spells like these are often the domain of magic-oriented characters only, so the freedom of unlocking it as a scroll is very valuable.
5 Scroll Of Globe Of Invulnerability
Time-Limited Invincibility That Can Win A Battle If Used Strategically
- Can be bought at Sorcerous Sundries.
- An incredibly powerful effect, but one that's very short-lived.
- Scroll of Globe of Invulnerability
A very rare scroll, the power of Globe of Invulnerability is defensive instead of offensive. Inside the 10-foot globe it creates, you and any allies near you will be immune to all damage for three turns.

Baldur's Gate 3 offers a variety of cantrips for your character to choose from, and here are the best ones.
PostsThis scroll will not only completely remove the ability for ranged attacks to land, but it will allow your party to take a much-needed rest during dire circumstances, like the final fight. There's an important caveat to its use, though. Scrolls, of course, are very limited-use as it is, and the three-turn limit means that Scroll of Globe of Invulnerability is even harder to get the most use from. The key is to keep it safe in your adventurers' inventory and unleash it at the most opportune moment.
4 Scroll Of Cloudkill
A Versatile Poison Spell For Crowd Control
- Can be found in Rivington, in a buried chest inside a barn.
- Cloudkill is a very strong spell that few characters have access to.
- Scroll of Cloudkill
One of the most powerful spells in the game, this scroll lets you wield Cloudkill without having to be a level nine Sorcerer, Wizard, or Druid. What makes Cloudkill so effective is that it deals 5d8 poison damage for each turn its active to all within it, which quickly stacks up. Couple with stealthier and more evasive party members, it can offer a slowly and more passive, yet equally deadly, route to victory in combat.
In addition to this, the spell is actually able to anticipate enemies trying to escape it, and each turn offers an opportunity to reposition it if it would be more beneficial placed elsewhere. If you want quick control of a battlefield, this spell will help you rout your enemies while limiting their movement options and chipping away at their health.
3 Scroll Of Dethrone
Target An Enemy With Powerful Necrotic Damage
- Found in the Sorcerous Vault in the Karsus section.
- Also found in the Sorcerous Vault by reading The Annals of Karsus.
- Scroll of Dethrone
Unlike many of the scrolls in the game, some of them can only be found in specific locations and are not for sale. Scroll of Dethrone is one of them. The name of the spell is a bit mysterious, but its effect is simple: it's a very potent form of Necrotic damage. If your party is lacking somewhat in this damage type, this is one of the greatest sources of it you'll find anywhere.
Since Dethrone deals 30 to 80 points of damage, it's a scroll that you'll want to save for the big boss fights in Act 3. Both of them are found in the Sorcerous Vault, where all the rarest scrolls in the game are kept. Though players are probably used to keeping their strongest items for eventualities that may never occur, carrying them through to the end of the game, this is the perfect chance to unleash this one.
2 Scroll Of Artistry Of War
Summon Your Own Personal Army
- Found in the Sorcerous Vault by reading The Red Knight’s Final Stratagem.
- A precious power that can rescue a seemingly-doomed party.
- Scroll of Artistry of War
There is only one of these scrolls in the entire game, and for good reason. The spell cannot be learned naturally as a character gains levels, it can only be cast once for each short rest your party takes, and it can't be cast above a level 5 spell slot. What does it do, then, to warrant the heavy restrictions upon it?

If you want your party members to stay alive in Baldur's Gate 3, you'll need these spells.
PostsArtistry of War summons six apparitions that each deliver 2d6 + 6 of Force damage. Being able to hit six targets at once in one turn is invaluable for crowd control, and there's an undeniable rush to having a small army at your fingertips. If you're lucky, you might already have a skilled and impeccably-equipped party adventuring with you, but six extra temporary allies will never go amiss nonetheless.
1 Scroll Of Bestial Communion
Summon A Guardian Angel
- Found in the Sorcerous Vault by reading Caution Before the Seelie.
- This formidable Celestial ally has great offensive and supportive utility.
- Scroll of Bestial Communion
This scroll, like the Scroll of Artistry Of War, is unique in the game. It gives you the chance to summon a Deva, which is a level 10 Celestial and one of the best summons in the game. Overall, the summoned Deva has stats that make it almost as effective as another member of your party, and its weapon deals both Radiant and bludgeoning damage.
The Deva also has a high chance of frightening or dazing an opponent, and it comes with the benefit of having a move that revives allies so you don't need to go rushing to Withers. This ally will stick around until killed, which means that this scroll offers the most long-term benefits for its single use.
