One of the biggest unknowns from One Piece’s history is that of the ancient weapons. These colossal monuments to power are immensely powerful, capable of devastating entire kingdoms, leaving the world to the whims of whoever controls them. If you want to learn all there is to know about the Ancient Weapons, we have all the details here.

What Are The Ancient Weapons?

Three Major Sources Of Power

Weapons from the distant past, the Ancient Weapons refer to a series of three weapons that are capable of rending an immense amount of devastation on the world with their use. Each of these weapons draws inspiration from a god, being named after the Greek gods Pluton, Poseidon, and Uranus.

These weapons come from the time of the Great War, a massive conflict that took over the planet, and the majority of the island nations that scattered the planet. This war was between the Great Kingdom and Joy Boy, and the Alliance of Twenty Kingdoms, whose resulting conflict caused the ocean level to rise by around 200 meters, transforming the world into the flooded planet that Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates traverse in the current age.

Much of the knowledge of the Ancient Weapons and the Great War were intentionally lost by the World Government and the secret leader of the world, Imu. This time would be known as the Void Century and was all but lost to the general population of the world by the time the Great Pirate Age came around. That isn’t to say that some people have gotten their hands on Ancient Weapons or at least have knowledge of them, but very few people know of their existence after more than 800 years have passed.

Pluton

A Ship Of Immense Power

Pluton is a tricky one among the Ancient Weapons of One Piece. Technically, we have yet to see what Pluton looks like. Instead, the viewers have seen the first page of the sole surviving plans that detail how to build Pluton. Pluton still exists, resting beneath the submerged Mt. Fuji in old Wano Country, though there’s no way to reach the Ancient Weapon without destroying the massive rock walls that surround the nation.

However, Pluton was built on the island of Water 7, and it is there that the remaining blueprints were kept. They were passed down for generations, both to keep Pluton out of the hands of those who would use them for evil, and as a deterrent, since they could always rebuild Pluton on their own against an enemy attack. These blueprints were hidden for centuries, up until around ten years before the events of the One Piece anime. Tom, a fish-man carpenter, was in possession of the blueprints and refused to give them to the World Government who wished to put an end to the Great Pirate Era, though in actuality a rogue faction sought to overthrow the World Government with the ship's vast power.Tom would bestow Iceburg, his apprentice, with the blueprints, who in turn would hand them to Tom’s other apprentice, Cutty Flam, better known as the eccentric Franky.

Franky would later burn the blueprints to keep them out of the hands of the same organization that sought to steal the plans from Tom. This seems to confirm that the only way we will see Pluton in action is to resurrect it from the depths of Wano.

Poseidon

The Only Natural Ancient Weapon

Unlike the other two Ancient Weapons, Poseidon isn’t a thing to be built, but instead a designation for a living being who gains immense power. The Poseidon Ancient Weapon is a mermaid that holds the power to communicate and control the massive Sea Kings, gargantuan beasts that inhabit ever corner of the planet. Sea Kings are similar to Sea Beasts, though Sea King are much much larger and more ferocious than their beastly counterparts.

A Poseidon is rather rare, only being born to a princess of the Ryugua Kingdom once every several centuries. Princess Shirahoshi gained this power in the One Piece story, as the first to develop this ability in the 800 years since the Void Century.

Uranus

Very Little Is Know About This Ancient Weapon

The most mysterious of the Ancient Weapons, Uranus has yet to be seen directly in the One Piece manga and anime. While very little is known about the weapon, there have been hints as to what it could possibly be or what it does. The name, Uranus, is that of the Greco-Roman deity, and they are heavily associated with the sky.

This lines up with the little bit of information revealed in the manga, where a mysterious object is seen flying above the clouds, only to rain down a beam of devastation that is strong enough to obliterate entire islands. Dr. Vegapunk believes that his stolen Mother Flame, an energy source that seems to be nigh-limitless, is being used to power the weapon. It is suspected that this weapon is the one seen by Sabo that utterly erases the island nation of Lulusia, though it is difficult to say exactly what caused the devastation.
