Arguably the easiest pinnacle boss in Diablo 4 is Lord Grigoire. This boss can be summoned from a common Helltide material, drops plenty of useful Uniques, and is tied to farming for Duriel's summoning components. Best of all, this fight has easy mechanics that you can bypass through sheer survivability or agility.

PostsFarming Lord Grigoire is fairly easy, but the game doesn't explain how to summon this boss or even mention Lord Grigoire's existence. In this guide, we explain how to summon Lord Grigoire, how to beat this pinnacle boss, and showcase every Unique that Grigoire can drop in both Normal and Torment difficulties.
How To Summon Lord Grigoire
CloseLord Grigoire is located in the Hall of the Penitent dungeon in Dry Steppes, located south of Ked Bardu. Before you can fight this pinnacle boss, you must first bring summoning materials. You'll need to burn Living Steel to spawn Lord Grigorie, although how much you need will depend on what difficulty you're attempting.
Difficulty
Cost
Rewards
Normal
Level 75
- 5 Living Steel
- Any Unique from the boss' drop table
- 1.5% chance of dropping a Mythic Unique
- Shard of Agony
Tormented
Level 200
- 1 Stygian Stone
- 15 Living Steel
- Drops five times as much loot
- ~7.5% chance of dropping a Mythic Unique
- 5 Shards of Agony
Living Steel is most commonly found in Living Steel chests that spawn during Helltide. Each chest costs 275 Aberrant Cinders to open, and only two spawn per Helltide. If you're up for a challenge, you can spend three times the normal summoning material plus a Stygian Stone to start the Tormented variant. This is set to Level 200 and drastically increases Grigoire's damage, but you earn quintuple the loot on a successful kill.
Stygian Stones can be farmed in the Infernal Hordes. Use your Aether on the resource chest for a small chance of earning a Stygian Stone.

PostsLord Grigoire Boss Guide
Lord Grigoire is a fairly straightforward fight that tests your character's mobility. When you start the fight, the floor will glow with electricity before exploding. This happens in a grid pattern. Stand in the middle, then dip to the edge of the room right as Grigoire is about to spawn. This is the boss' main mechanic, so get comfortable dodging this. If it proves too difficult, try speccing your character for more movement speed.
Grigoire is a melee unit that wields a one-handed mace infused with electricity, unleashing a barrage of lightning orbs with each swing. This attack hits somewhat hard, but the final attack in the combo deals massive damage and inflicts a debuff on Tormented difficulty. The higher this debuff gets, the more damage you'll take from all sources. Most builds can't handle more than three stacks; be careful.
After lowering the boss' HP by 25%, Grigoire will begin to summon lightning pillars that spawn equidistant from one another. The pillars will create a series of electric walls, turning the arena into a maze. Movement skills like Teleport can pass right through the hazard, but walking through it is a death sentence. Use your limited space to avoid Grigoire's melee attacks and force a stagger.
Later in the fight, Grigoire will spawn ground AoEs that will cause parts of the floor to explode, which is exactly how the fight started. Head to the middle of the arena, wait for a clear corner to appear, then use a movement skill to get out of harm's way. Repeat this process until you kill Grigoire.
