There's a reason The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered was considered a classic back when it was originally launched, and that's because of its memorable main story quest. It was a story about finding allies to fight a great evil and all to fulfill one's destiny, be it you being the hero or the fate of the Septim dynasty.

At the very end of the main quest chain, you are tasked to go and face one of the people who started all of this chaos in Cyrodiil. You are to face Mankar Camoran in the realm of Paradise on a quest of the same name.

How To Start The Paradise Quest

The Paradise Quest starts immediately after you complete the Great Gate quest, after the Defense of Bruma quest. After collecting all the materials to open the portal, you'll need to talk to Martin to continue the quest. He'll ask you if you're ready, and if you say yes, he'll open the portal to Paradise.

You can't go back after entering the portal to Paradise, so be prepared. Repair your armor, bring healing and/or magicka potions, and repair hammers so that you can repair your equipment.

How To Complete The Paradise Quest

Once you've entered Paradise, Mankar Camoran will start talking to you. Follow the path and be prepared for a fight; the area is crawling with leveled enemies, which can include Daedra or elementals.

Continue down the path, and you can find Ascended Immortals. They aren't hostile, and they can tell you more about the area. After following the path, you'll come across a bridge that goes to a door onto the mountain. A Dremora by the name of Kathutet will talk to you when you get near.

Kill Kathutet Or Help Him

Kathutet will talk to you and ask if you'll fight him in battle or do a small quest for him. Both will reward you with the Bands of the Chosen, which will help you access the Forbidden Grotto and get nearer to your objective.

If you choose to fight Kathutet, then you can simply kill him. He will have the enchanted one-handed longsword Purging Flame that deals one point of fire damage for 15 seconds. The Dremora will also have multiple leveled potions and leveled Resist Magic.

Kathutet can also cast spells since he has a chance of having major and minor destruction spells and a major mysticism spell.

If you choose to do a small quest for Kathutet, he will tell you to go to a nearby cave to the north-northwest of where you talk to him. There you'll find the Ascended Immortals that trapped the Xivilai. He is trapped behind a boulder propped up by two wooden beams; interact with them to free him.

If you kill Kathutet then you can just loot the Bands of the Chosen from his corpse. If you instead do the quest, go inside the Flooded Grotto and fight your way to him. That's when he'll give you the Bands of the Chosen.

You'll need to equip the Bands of the Chosen to access the Forbidden Grotto. You can't take them off, and it will give you a debuff of Weakness to Fire by 50 percent.

Get Help From Eldamil Or Not

The Forbidden Grotto is filled with leveled Daedra, elementals, and Dremora as well as prisoners taken by them. When you go through the area, keep an eye out for a non-hostile Mythic Dawn member called Eldamil, who will initiate dialogue with you.

He will tell you that he has changed his mind and wants to help you get out of the Forbidden Grotto. To get out of there, you'll need to remove the Bands of the Chosen, and only Eldamil will know how. Accept his help and act like a prisoner. He will tell you to get inside a cage as part of the act.

The cage will be lowered to the lava, but it will stop before it gets there. It will rise again and open to the other side. Eldamil will tell you to move on ahead while he fights the Dremora. He can die fighting them, but since he's immortal in this realm, he'll come back later. Continue through the dungeon.

Once you go through another Door to the Forbidden Grotto, you'll find Eldamil on the other side. Accept his help again to remove the Bands of the Chosen. He will then ask you to join you in fighting Mankar Camoran. You can accept his help or not. Don't worry, he won't betray you.

How To Defeat Mankar Camoran

Once you've removed the Bands of the Chosen, head further into the dungeon and go through the door to Paradise. When you're outside, follow the path until you reach a circular area where a member of the Mythic Dawn will talk to you. They're not hostile and will invite you to go see their master.

Follow them to Mankar Camoran's room, where he will say his speech before fighting you. He will fight you with two other members of the Mythic Dawn. All of them are mages. He can also summon Daedra as well as cast multiple major destruction, restoration, disintegration, and silence spells.

Mankar Camoran is a tough leveled enemy, and here are the buffs he has:

  • 25 Percent Weakness to Fire, Frost, and Shock.
  • 75 Percent Resist Disease.
  • 50 Percent Resist Frost, Shock, Magick.
  • 25 Percent Reflect Spell and Damage.
  • 25 Percent Spell Absorption and Shield.
  • An additional 10-20 Percent Spell Absorption from his armor, depending on your level.
  • An additional 7-10 Percent Reflect Damage from his armor, depending on your level.

Mankar Camoran can be tough to fight with magic due to his resistance and spell absorption effects. Focus on using fire damage spells, since it's the only one he doesn't have a resistance to.

While you can kill both of his followers, making the fight easier, they will respawn after a while and get back into the fight. If you can, focus on defeating Mankar instead, since killing him will also kill his allies.

Melee characters will have a slightly easier time since all you need to watch out for is the reflect damage and their fairly low shield. If you're using the blade skill, Goldbrand which you can get from the Boethia Quest, it has fire damage as well as a high damage stat, making it a perfect weapon against him.

When you defeat Mankar Camoran, he'll have the Amulet of Kings on his body; loot this for the quest. He will also have Mankar Camoran's Staff , which deals seven points of shock and ten points of disintegrate armor. Mankar Camoran's robes also have the enchantment Reflect Damage and Spell Absorption.

After defeating him and taking the Amulet of Kings, the place will begin to crumble, and you'll be teleported back to Cloud Ruler Temple. There you'll find Martin wearing the clothes of the Emperor, and you can give him the amulet to complete his outfit as the next Emperor.
