With the majority of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang heroes preferring to use blades and bows (and some, their fists) to apprehend enemies, the game's mages or midlaners stand out for delving into the arcane. This makes the mages the team's source of burst AOE damage and added utility, making it one of the most important roles in deciding a game's outcome.

Posts 6As a mage, you'll be tasked with clearing your lane quickly and then ganking any other lane. This means that you need strong AOE damage for minion clear, but also some form of Crowd Control to ensure your gank doesn't go wasted. Where some mages prefer to go all-in on damage, others may want to help their team more. With all of that in mind, here are the best heroes for midlane in Mobile Legends.
7 Cecilion
Absurd Late Game Damage
As a mage, you're not exactly durable. You're as squishy as an assassin, except you don't have the same mobility to weasel your way out of danger. Mages are glass cannons incarnate, characters that can output the highest of damage, but can't do much if caught unaware. Cecilion is one of the characters who goes the hardest in this artillery mage playstyle. His first skill deals higher damage when enemies are a certain distance away from you, and his second skill can only hit enemies that aren't in melee range.
Cecilion has a passive that increases his damage based on his mana. Additionally, he has a passive that increases his mana each time he hits enemies with a skill. This combination makes it so the longer a match goes on for, the stronger Cecilion becomes.
This means that if an enemy does get close, all you can do is pop your Ultimate and hope your team gets there in time. However, so long as you can stay a safe distance away from enemies, Cecilion's damage scales more than any other mage, making him the best late-game mage and the hero with the highest single-hit damage in all of Mobile Legends.
6 Xavier
Splendid Damage Mage
Xavier is perhaps what most people think of when they visualize a mage. He doesn't have any complicated skill mechanics or things that synergize well with his kit. Instead, he just deals a lot of AOE damage, and sometimes that's all you really need.
Xavier is a strong long-range mage capable of sniping down individual heroes or raining down his skills on entire teams. His passive lets his skills grow stronger the more you hit them, and so long as you're confident in your ability to land skills, Xavier ends up being one of the strongest damage mages in Mobile Legends.
5 Kagura
The Perfect Mage For Showing Off
Mages are typically thought to be easy to play. Sure, you still need a high amount of game knowledge to know when to gank and when to stay inside your turret. However, they're not as mechanically taxing to use, since using a single skill button is much easier than hitting your combos with Gusion. If there were a mage that's as difficult or perhaps even more complicated to pilot than many assassins, it'd be Kagura.

PostsKagura is a damage-oriented mage who has tons of utility. Unlike other mages, she's not a sitting duck; Kagura has teleports, dashes, knockbacks, and even a purify skill to cleanse her CC. On top of all of this, she still packs enough damage with her combos to one-shot squishier heroes. She's one of the most rewarding mages to learn to play, but oftentimes, simpler heroes can provide all that your team would need to succeed, making Kagura far less popular than she should be.
4 Aurora
Freeze Enemies (And Yourself)
What defines a good mage can differ from rank to rank. On lower ranks, someone like Eudora or Vale may dominate due to their ability to hide in a bush and surprise gank the enemy marksman for easy kills. However, as you get closer to the prestige that is Mythical Glory, burst-damage mages take a backseat to more control-oriented heroes.
Auroroa has a passive where once she takes lethal damage, she instead turns into ice and goes completely immune for a few seconds.
When you talk about Crowd Control, there are few mages more proficient than Aurora. Her ability to freeze enemies gives her a hard CC on both her second skill and her Ultimate, and she has a slow on her first skill as well. This lets a skilled Aurora very consistently zone out enemies or CC multiple enemy heroes.
3 Valir
Whittle Down Enemies With Long-Ranged Fireballs
Where marksmen rely on consistent DPS, mages take a route more similar to assassins with a very all-or-nothing playstyle. If you miss your skills or if the enemy's team comes to you after they die, you can't exactly do much as you wait for your cooldowns to refresh. In exchange, when you do hit your damaging combo, you can one-shot most squishes in the game.
Valir's continuous damage also lets him proc item effects with great efficiency, such as the Ice Queen Wand's slow against enemies.
Valir is what happens when you keep all the damage but also the consistency of other roles. So long as Valir keeps on hitting his skill one, it refreshes its cooldown. This lets Valir be one of the strongest mages in ML when paired with an effective tank that can keep enemies from jumping him. Additionally, Valir's HP-based DoT (damage over time) makes him a strong pick against many tanks, something other mages struggle against
2 Vexana
Lots Of Stuns, Lots Of AOE
Vexana is a character that delves into a more morbid form of magic, using necromancy to revive an undead knight that aids her in battle. As a hero, this knight or the undead aspect of things doesn't define her playstyle, though, as she functions as a strong control mage that can deal tons of AOE damage.

We take a look at how to get the most out of Gusion in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
Posts 1Vexana's first skill and Ultimate both have strong AOE CC, with the first skill specifically having an extremely low cooldown as well. This makes Vexana best in coordinated teams since landing a stun can be much more impactful than landing a damaging skill. Furthermore, Vexana's passive makes units hit by her explode for AOE damage, making her one of the strongest heroes when dealing with hordes of enemies stuck together.
1 Zhuxin
Permanently Stun Enemies
The lower numbers on the list are dominated by damage mages, but as you shift towards the more effective midlaners, the meta begins to favor those with utility a lot more. As Zhuxin, you won't be dealing the same amount of damage as the enemy Vale or Eudora, nor will you be sniping enemies from out of sight like Xavier or Novaria. Instead, you'll be roaming around the battlefield much like a fighter, proccing your passive and chain-CCing enemies.
Zhuxin is a control mage with an ability that charges enemies as you continue dealing damage to them with your second skill. Once they're fully charged, you can knock them up into the air and throw them in another direction, dealing damage and stunning them. With no cooldown on this ability, a good Zhuxin can continuously CC multiple enemies again and again, making her a very annoyingly strong foe to go against and a mage that has more outplay potential than any other.
