This move deals severe Slash damage to your whole team with a chance to critically hit

Mabufudyne

Deals heavy Ice damage to every member of your team with a small chance to apply Freeze

The Merciless Judge has no affinity weaknesses. As such, you will have to rely on lucky critical hits to down the boss and follow up with an All-Out attack.

The boss’s affinities make this extremely difficult to pull off. The boss nullifies both Slashing and Striking physical attacks, so the only way to knock it down is with Piercing skills.

Merciless Judge will rely on skills during the encounter, Vorpal Blade and Mabufudyne, both of which are damaging abilities.

This floor guardian already has a high attack and defense, which will be further supplemented by its minion.

Executive Greatsword Affinity Chart And Skills

The Executive Greatsword’s prime directive is to buff itself and the Merciless Judge while throwing out an onslaught of elemental attacks. It is no slouch either and could be the main boss itself.

Attacks and Skills

Marakukaja

Increases the defense of both bosses for 3 turns

Mazionga

This deals medium Electric damage to all team members and also has a low chance to apply shock

Ziodyne

A single target skill that deals heavy Electric damage with a small chance to apply shock

Divine Judgement

This is a single-target skill that deals severe Light damage

The Executive Greatsword is only weak to Fire damage.

Executive Greatsword drains Electric attacks while also repelling Light attacks.

This shadow has four moves that it will use in this encounter: one buff in Marakukaja that it will attempt to maintain, and three damaging skills. Two of its damaging skills are Electric typing, while Divine Judgement is Light.

Merciless Judge And Executive Greatsword Battle Guide

Once you arrive on the 184th floor of Tartarus, you will be greeted by two foes who are ready to give you more trouble than any boss before them - the Merciless Judge and the Executive Greatsword. The recommended level for this boss fight is level 59.

As far as affinities go, if you want to use skills that hit more than one foe, the only available options for this fight are Dark, Wind, Fire, Piercing, and Almighty skills. Any other typing will be resisted or worse by one of the two bosses.

The Merciless Judge and Cruel Greatsword will use a combination of Slashing, Ice, Electric, and Light skills.

Bring along a stock of Amrita Gems, Amrita Soda, Baisudi Gems, and Maibaisudi Gems to take care of any Freeze or Shock statuses.

What makes crafting a team for this fight so difficult comes in the fact that - for the most part - each team member who excels in this fight offensively is also, unfortunately, at a disadvantage defensively. Let's go over some of the strengths and weaknesses of each team member:

  • Koromaru does excellent multi-target Dark and Almighty damage but is weak to the Light damage from Divine Judgment.
  • Aigis brings the multi-target Piercing skill Myriad Arrows and the extremely strong buff duo of Matarukaja and Marakukaja, but she is weak to the Electric attacks of the Executive Greatsword.
  • Junpei brings Marakukaja for the team, Agilao for the Executive Greatsword, and Torrent Shot for the Merciless Judge. He isn’t weak to anything in this fight, but his available moves are not particularly strong.
  • Yukari brings the strongest healing and ailment curing possible, which is especially relevant in this boss fight. She also has Masukunda, which, if lucky, could buy your team several rounds of safety. She is unfortunately weak to the Electric attacks from the Executive Greatsword.
  • Mitsuru only has Marakunda for the team, and her Ice attacks will not hurt the Merciless Judge, but she has no weaknesses to the bosses’ attacks. You could, however, use Ice Break to stop that, but since it takes an entire turn to set up, she is not nearly as good as other options.
  • Ken supplies Dekaja and healing to the team, but outside of that, he will have to rely on single-target Piercing attacks, which makes him less desirable.
  • Akihiko has access to both Matarunda and Masukukaja while also being able to heal a bit. However, none of his offensive attacks are good for this fight, and he is weak to Ice damage.

For this guide, we will go over the strategy using the team members Koromaru, Aigis, and Yukari.

You can substitute these members with any other member you have if these three are not a sufficiently high level, but keep in mind the strengths and weaknesses above if you choose a different composition.

Koromaru Will Use His Multi-Target Skills

If your Koromaru is level 56 or higher, he will have access to Maragidyne, the best skill for him to cast each turn.

Otherwise, he will know Maeiga and Virus Breath, both of which are fine to use each turn. Maeiga does more damage, but Virus Breath can Poison the boss, which is devastating.

Yukari Will Debuff, Heal, And Deal Wind Damage

On Yukari’s first turn, cast Masukunda to lower both enemies’ evasion and - more importantly - their accuracy. This could lead to many moves from the bosses just missing.

On subsequent turns, use Magarula or Garudyne to apply damage.

If your team is afflicted with Shock or Freeze, she should use Amrita Drop.

Otherwise, if your team is unhealthy, use Mediarama to sustain them.

Aigis Will Buff And Attempt To Crit

Aigis will use Marakukaja on her first turn, followed by Matarukaja on the next turn. After both buffs have been applied to your team, perform subsequent turns by using Myriad Arrows to attempt to critically hit the bosses.

Choosing The Protagonist's Persona

Finding the right Persona for this fight is just as difficult as crafting the right team composition for your party. Since the bosses use Ice, Electric, Light, and Slash skills, you will be hard-pressed to find a defensive Persona with the right affinities.

The Best Persona

The best Persona for this encounter would be the Aeon Arcana, Nidhoggr. Nidhoggr cannot be recruited on any of the floors in Tartarus and thus has to be fused.

You should fuse this using a Girimekhala with Repel Slash and any of the following Empress Arcana Personas: Leanan Sidhe, Yakshini, or Hariti.

Once you have fused this Nidhoggr, raise it to level 53, which is when it learns Null Light. This will result in a Persona that nullifies Ice, Electric, and Light damage while also repelling slash damage.

More Persona Options

Since Nidhoggr is of the Aeon Arcana, it can be difficult to raise and may be weaker as a result. There are several other great options that can be chosen instead to save time.
