Tekken 8 More Than Doubles Street Fighter 6's Sales In The UK

Tekken 8 is quickly finding success in the UK, with its physical sales more than doubling Street Fighter 6's launch in the region. This comes as the long-awaited sequel launches to widespread critical acclaim, securing a 90 on Metacritic.
Now, it looks like those positive reviews are translating into sales, as Christopher Dring of Gamesindustry.biz notes that its physical launch in the UK is going surprisingly well so far. While this doesn't take digital sales into account - which will likely make up the bulk of Tekken 8's overall figures - it's a good indication that the game will perform well across Europe, as it doesn't seem that the region is put off by having so many fighting games launch in recent months.

Reina, one of Tekken 8's brand new characters, is a fantastic addition to the roster that has a lot to show.
Posts"Last year I was surprised at how low Street Fighter 6’s UK sales were at physical retail," says Dring, as first reported By VGC. "I wondered if it was a genre trend, but Tekken 8’s UK physical sales are good, and more than double the launch of SF6."
Dring notes that the competition at the time may have hurt Street Fighter 6's physical sales, since 2023 was a ridiculously stacked year for game releases. Still, Tekken 8 more than doubling this figure is incredibly impressive. We'll have to see if this is replicated elsewhere, and in both physical and digital sales.
Players who have picked up Tekken 8 already are having a whole lot of fun with it. Right now, Tekken communities are mostly sharing screenshots of other characters they've created using the in-game customisation options. This means that fans can (kind of) play as Tifa, who appears to be one of the most requested guest fighters for Tekken 8. In fact, she's such a popular request that Tekken 8 director Katsuhiro Harada had to respond, saying, "We all know she is attractive and I understand that. But as yet we have not decided anything about guest characters." Well, that's not a no.
Tekken 8 only launched on January 26, so we'll have to wait and see how it performs long term. But right now, it's got a whole lot have happy players, so it's off to a very good start. Tekken 8 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
