The Relic: First Guardian – A New Hope in the Soulslike Genre

Recently, gamers were treated to an exciting gameplay trailer for The Relic: First Guardian, a highly anticipated Soulslike action RPG from the South Korean developer Project Cloud Games. This title, published by Perp Games, is set for release later this year on multiple platforms including PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. Initially presented as Project Relic during Gamescom 2021, the game was originally designed as a multiplayer experience but has since transitioned into a single-player format.

Embark on a Heroic Quest

Players will step into the shoes of the last Guardian, embarking on a noble mission to rescue a world consumed by darkness. The once-vibrant realm of Arsiltus has been devastated by the void unleashed from the destruction of the Great Relic, transforming it into a land of desolation and despair. The core objective of the game revolves around the hero gathering fragments of the shattered Great Relic to ultimately seal the Void and restore balance.

Explore a Semi-Open World

Characterized as a semi-open world action RPG, The Relic: First Guardian offers players the opportunity to delve into an apocalyptic fantasy universe filled with dynamic challenges. Players can choose from five distinct weapon types, each boasting unique abilities that can be tailored to fit individual play styles. This feature enhances the gameplay’s variety, ensuring that each player’s experience is distinct.

Interestingly, the developers have opted to forego traditional RPG leveling systems. Instead, player progression hinges on runes, crafting materials, and items that players collect throughout their adventures. Achieving these rewards involves conquering dungeons and defeating formidable bosses, adding layers of strategy to character advancement.
