Ubisoft Enhances Steam Experience with New Achievements for Watch Dogs Series

Since late 2024, Ubisoft has been revitalizing its older game catalog on Steam by integrating achievements, a feature previously exclusive to its Ubisoft Connect platform. This strategic shift has allowed several popular franchises, including Assassin’s Creed and Ghost Recon, to join the fold. Most recently, the acclaimed open-world action game series Watch Dogs has been updated to support Steam Achievements, much to the delight of fans.

Official Announcement on Steam Achievements

In a notable shift towards transparency, Ubisoft officially announced the addition of Steam Achievements for the mainline Watch Dogs games:

Attention Dedsec,

We are pleased to announce that Steam Achievements are now available for Watch Dogs!

As a heads up, achievements will be retroactively earned for the accomplishments already completed in your game. For the sync to happen, you need to launch the game once, and the previously unlocked Ubisoft Connect achievements will be automatically unlocked on Steam.

This announcement was shared on the Steam page for the original Watch Dogs, released in 2014. Similarly, Watch Dogs 2 received an almost identical update earlier today, indicating it will follow suit in adding achievement support. However, the latest installment, Watch Dogs: Legion, set in a dystopian London and launched in 2020, has not yet received this update, although it may be forthcoming.

What’s New in Ubisoft’s Achievement Rollout?

Ubisoft has been on a mission to enrich its Steam library. Notable titles such as Far Cry 3 through 6 and multiple Assassin’s Creed titles—including Black Flag, Unity, Rogue, and Syndicate—have also seen recent achievement updates. The brand’s decision to retire its PC exclusivity initiative has facilitated a more inclusive approach, allowing Steam to serve as a launch platform from day one for new titles, starting with Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
