Top Strategies to Quickly Increase Your Hunter Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, your Hunter Rank serves as the character’s progression level. A higher Hunter Rank unlocks access to more challenging monsters, enhances rewards, and opens up additional quests. This ranking system not only reflects your achievements but also grants vital bragging rights amongst fellow players in the competitive landscape of MHW.
To boost your Hunter Rank, players must complete various quests and hunts. However, there are strategies to maximize the experience points gained, enabling quicker advancements to the next rank. It’s essential to understand that increasing Hunter Rank isn’t feasible during the main storyline of the game.
Throughout the main narrative, progression is straightforward, allowing rank increases solely upon finishing key missions. After completing the main story and transitioning into High Rank, players can effectively start leveling up their Hunter Rank at an accelerated rate.
1. Complete High Rank Main Quests
When you enter High Rank, you’ll still be assigned main quest missions.Finishing these main quests is one of the most efficient methods for increasing your Hunter Rank. Not only does completing these quests reward you with Hunter Rank experience points, but you will also gain bonus XP for hunting the respective monsters.
Additionally, it’s advisable to engage in any available side quests as you progress through High Rank. Although they may not always yield significant Hunter Rank XP, they can be crucial in helping you reach the next level.
2. Hunt Two Tempered Monsters
As you advance to Hunter Rank levels 40 and above, main quests become less frequent. In this situation, the quickest way to gain Hunter Rank is through high-star hunts, particularly by defeating two Tempered Monsters within optional quests. This approach can yield substantial Hunter Rank XP, often allowing you to leap to the next rank level.
3. Hunt Guardian Monsters
Guardian Monsters provide a greater yield of Hunter Rank experience points compared to both Tempered and regular monsters. Although not every monster has a guardian version, several do exist. Here’s a list of Guardian Monsters found in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Full Guardian Anjanath
- Guardian Ebony Odogaron
- Guardian Rathalos
- Guardian Doshaguma
Of these, the Guardian Fulgur Anjanath offers the highest Hunter Rank experience points, but be prepared, as it is also the most formidable of the group.
4. Join SOS Flare Quests
Participating in SOS Flare quests can significantly expedite the process of raising your Hunter Rank. These quests often allow you to join missions that are nearing completion or have already sustained considerable damage to the monster. This translates to shorter quest durations and quicker rewards, with the added benefit of receiving full Hunter Rank XP, even if you join midway.
5. Hunt Arkveld, Jin Dahaad, and Gore Magala
Among the toughest adversaries in Monster Hunter Wilds are the Arkveld, Jin Dahaad, and Gore Magala. Since these monsters present considerable challenges, they yield the highest amounts of Hunter Rank experience points in the game. I highly recommend forming a group of friends or sending up an SOS Flare to tackle these beasts, making the grind for experience both efficient and rewarding, especially for the rare crafting materials they drop.
