This marks only the second occasion since 2016—when the Space Doughnut was introduced—where the character roster has expanded beyond its beloved cookie lineup.

Initially launched in 2013, Cookie Run: OvenBreak has developed an extensive and diverse array of playable characters. Initially starting with a limited number of cookies, the game has rapidly expanded, now featuring more than 200 cookies and pets. The character diversity has grown tremendously over the years, introducing players to themed options like the Zombie Cookie and crossover favorites inspired by the Hello Kitty franchise. Recently, during a developer stream, yet another non-cookie character was revealed, stirring excitement among fans.

During the Universe Ablaze update stream held on February 26, the development team unveiled the Astronuts, a new alien species that will join the game alongside the cookies. This update marks the first addition of a non-cookie character in over eight years. As part of the announcement, players were treated to a sneak peek of the Astronuts, which are described as a pair of peanut-like characters, and were also introduced to Squeakspeak, their unique pet. Future updates are expected to include additional content, such as the Space Seed Pirates Epic Costume for the Astronuts and a special version of their pet, which players can unlock using Cookie Run Rainbow Cubes. While a specific release date has not yet been provided, the devs have confirmed that this exciting new content will be available “soon.”
