The Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has made waves with its groundbreaking introduction of the Celestic Town Elder card. This innovative addition provides players with the ability to revive cards that have been knocked out, a feature not seen before in the game. While previous expansions featured cards that allowed the recovery of Energy from the discard pile, this new card creates fresh avenues for players to bounce back from potentially losing positions during gameplay.

Just a few days ago, the Pokémon TCG Pocket unveiled its exciting Triumphant Light expansion. Unveiled during the Pokémon Presents livestream event on February 27, it hit the game the very next day. This expansion enriches the game with 96 new cards: 75 standard cards alongside variants of specific Pokémon and trainers adorned with distinctive illustrations and borders.

As players begin building their decks around the Triumphant Light expansion, the effectiveness of Celestic Town Elder remains a topic of debate among fans. On one hand, the recently introduced Arceus EX card serves as a central figure in this expansion, boasting abilities that are triggered only when Arceus or Arceus EX occupies the active position or remains on the bench. Some players believe that Celestic Town Elder was intentionally included to maintain Arceus cards in play, thereby allowing other powerful Pokémon to realize their full potential.

However, players also express concerns regarding the limitations associated with this card. Given that only Basic Pokémon can be revived, evolutionary lines may face challenges. Players may successfully revive potent Basic Pokémon EX cards, but these typically require significant energy setup over multiple turns. If an EX card is already in the discard pile, it means the opponent is only a single point away from claiming victory, raising strategic dilemmas for players.
