In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Groschen play a vital role in managing your resources. It’s necessary for purchasing and repairing equipment, securing food, lodging, and other necessities. Players should focus on completing side quests to gain Groschen and valuable items, rather than resorting to theft.
A noteworthy avenue for earning extra Groschen involves locating hidden treasures dispersed throughout Bohemia. This guide focuses on how to acquire the Caught Thief’s Map, a key tool that will significantly ease your gameplay experience from the early to mid-stages of the game. Let’s delve into the steps needed to secure the map and the treasures it unveils.
Acquiring the Caught Thief’s Map
To retrieve the Caught Thief’s Map, progress through the main storyline until you reach the quest titled Back in the Saddle. This quest enables open exploration of Trosky Castle. Head to the western edge of the castle, where several Dice tables are located, and encounter Black Bartosch, a soldier near a wooden fence.
Bartosch holds the coveted Caught Thief’s Map. You have multiple options to obtain it: if the area is clear of other soldiers, you can pickpocket him from behind, where the map will be one of the possible loot items.
If pickpocketing is not your style, challenge Bartosch to a game of Dice. He may claim he has no money but agrees to wager the map if you win. Your options here are: buy the map for 250 Groschen or bet 50 Groschen, win the game, and not only reclaim your bet but also secure the Caught Thief’s Map.
To view your new acquisition, simply navigate to your inventory and select the books tab.
Locating the Treasure Identified by the Caught Thief’s Map
With the map secured, fast travel to Nebakov Mill. Follow the road eastward, then take the path to the left that leads uphill. Once you’re in the forest, continue heading east until you discover the Thief’s Camp, where a lone enemy awaits your arrival.
A stealthy approach with a dagger can help you eliminate this enemy quietly. Look for a nearby chest, which requires a higher level of lockpicking skill to unlock.
To pick the lock, hold the L2/LT button on your controller while rotating with the right stick. The lock will only shift into place when the ball turns golden. Avoid forcing the lock if the color remains unchanged, as this could break your lockpick.
Given that this is a complex lock, you might consider using a Quickfinger Potion, which boosts your craftsmanship and thievery by 6 for 40 minutes. After successfully unlocking the chest, you will unearth the following valuable items:
- Engraved Gemstone Ring
- Weak Marigold Decoction
- Frankfurt Steel x4
- 328 groschen
- Bandage x2
