Capcom to Conclude Services for Resident Evil Re:Verse

In a recent announcement, Capcom declared that the multiplayer installment, Resident Evil Re:Verse, will cease operations on June 29, 2025. This closure means that the game will no longer be playable after the service ends, despite remaining available for download post-closure. Additionally, Capcom will discontinue bundling the game with new copies of Resident Evil Village, in which it originally launched as a bonus.

DLC Sales to End Ahead of Service Closure

Before the multiplayer service comes to an end, Capcom plans to halt the sale of downloadable content (DLC) earlier on March 3, 2025. This date marks the final opportunity for players to acquire in-game purchases, including the Premium Pass and various RP Boost packs. Furthermore, eight unique character skins will also be removed from the shop, permanently affecting the customization options for players.

Character Skins to be Discontinued

The following skins will be unavailable for purchase after March 3, 2025:

• Ada Skin: Still Kicking (The Umbrella Chronicles)
• Chris Skin: Gun Show (Resident Evil 5)
• Claire Skin: Leather Jacket (Resident Evil Revelations 2)
• Creature Skin: Hunter γ (Resident Evil Outbreak)
• Creature Skin: Super Tyrant 1998 (Resident Evil 2)
• Hunk Skin: Grim Reaper (The Mercenaries 3D)
• Jill Skin: Battle Suit (Resident Evil 5)
• Leon Skin: Leather Jacket (Resident Evil 6)

A Brief History of Resident Evil Re:Verse

Originally scheduled for release in July 2021, Resident Evil Re:Verse experienced multiple delays before finally launching in October 2022. This multiplayer title was intended as a companion experience for fans of the Resident Evil franchise, but it ultimately did not resonate as expected with players.

Platforms and Future Implications

Resident Evil Re:Verse is accessible on various platforms including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. The impending closure raises questions about the longevity of multiplayer modes in gaming, particularly for titles that may not achieve sustained player engagement.
