After months of speculation, the long-awaited news has been confirmed: Rockstar Games is set to launch the classic Red Dead Redemption on PC on October 29, alongside its thrilling zombie-themed expansion, Undead Nightmare.

In a recent announcement from Rockstar, it was revealed that the game has been expertly ported to PC by developer Double Eleven. Originally launched by Rockstar San Diego in 2010, this open-world Western action adventure will feature notable enhancements, including support for 4K resolution, Ultrawide (21:9), and Super Ultrawide (32:9) monitor setups. The PC version will also utilize HDR10 high dynamic range technology for stunning visuals.

Additionally, the game will be compatible with Nvidia DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 for graphics upscaling, alongside Nvidia’s innovative DLSS Frame Generation feature. Rockstar has promised adjustable draw distances, customizable shadow quality settings, and more visual options, with additional details likely to be disclosed in the weeks leading up to the release.

Pre-orders for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption are set to begin later this week, available through Rockstar’s official online storefront, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. However, the pricing for this PC adaptation has yet to be announced.

Taking place in the closing years of the American Wild West era in 1911, the narrative follows former outlaw John Marston as he seeks revenge against three of his former gang companions. The Undead Nightmare expansion pits Marston against a supernatural zombie apocalypse set in the Wild West.

Rockstar San Diego subsequently developed Red Dead Redemption 2, which was released in 2018 but serves as a prequel to the original game’s storyline. The sequel made its way to PC in 2019. While both titles have achieved remarkable commercial success for Rockstar, there has been no official word regarding the development of a potential third installment in the series.
